No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet News and Notes
First time at Phoenix… Cale Gale will make his first start at Phoenix International Raceway on Friday, Nov. 9. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender has attended races at the one-mile oval in Avondale, Ariz., but has never driven on the circuit and has not been to the track since it was reconfigured in 2011. Gale, who grew up racing on short tracks, has one pole and a pair of top-five finishes at tracks one-mile or less during the 2012 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season.
Back to the traditional red & black… The No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet driven by Cale Gale will return to its traditional red and black paint scheme for this weekend’s Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway. Additionally, the Rheem Chevrolet will keep its standard look for next week’s season finale at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway.
Meet Cale Gale… Cale Gale will join his Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) teammates Justin Lofton and Max Gresham at the Chevy Stage on Friday afternoon at 1:45 p.m. Mountain time. The trio will sign autographs for fans following a brief question and answer session at the Team Chevy display in the fan midway.
Battling for points… With the 2012 season coming to an end, Cale Gale continues to be ranked inside the top 15 in both the championship driver and owner point standings. Gale, who has scored six top-10 finishes this season, is ranked 12th in driver points and 14th in owner points. With just two races remaining, the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender continues to be ranked second in the Rookie of the Year standings.

Cale Gale Quotes… On racing at Phoenix International Raceway:
“I’ve never raced at Phoenix International Raceway, so I don’t really know what to expect this weekend with our No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet. I’ve been to the speedway as a spectator in the past, but I haven’t been there since they changed the track. I talked to Ron Hornaday last week to get some advice and get ready for the race. The truck series hasn’t raced there since the reconfiguration, so it’s a relative unknown for everyone.”
On what to expect in the Lucas Oil 150:
“There will be a lot of unknowns going into the race at Phoenix International Raceway. We have two practice sessions on Thursday night, so we’ll have some time to work through adjustments for our Rheem Chevrolet. It’s a short race–only 150 laps–which means that we won’t have a lot of time during the race to make changes. Fortunately our final practice session is right around race time, so that should help us get everything right in race trim. Jerry Baxter, my crew chief, has been to the track since they changed it, so hopefully that will work to our advantage with him having a notebook. Track position will definitely play a role on Friday night and pit stops will need to be flawless to win the race.”
On the 2012 NCWTS season winding down:
“I’ve had a lot of fun this year racing with my No. 33 Rheem team from Eddie Sharp Racing. The guys have worked so hard all season and have done a great job. We’ve accomplished a lot, but we still have two races left. We’re looking to finish out our 2012 rookie campaign strong with a solid finish this week at Phoenix [International Raceway] and next week at Homestead-Miami Speedway.”

Jerry Baxter Quotes… On racing in Phoenix, Ariz.:
“I’m really excited to get to Phoenix International Raceway with the Rheem team. We’re taking chassis No. 044–it’s a truck that we haven’t raced before, but one that we believe will be fast. They’ve reconfigured the track since the last time that the Truck Series has been there, so it will be new to a lot of these guys. I’ve been there with the Nationwide Series and Cup Series since they’ve made the change, but we’ll have to see how much of that knowledge transfers over to the trucks. The track is a lot faster and has more grip, so tires don’t really fall off. With such a short race, making the right call whether it’s for two tires or four will be important.”
