Armstrong Ready to Compete at Favorite Short Track, Richmond International Raceway

No. 43 WinField Team Looks to Repeat Strong Performance from Last Fall

Fresh off of a Top-20 finish at the track “Too Tough To Tame”, Dakoda Armstrong and the No. 43 WinField team will compete this weekend at Richmond International Raceway (RIR). The track is a personal favorite of Armstrong’s and was the site of his best performance of his rookie year, where he finished seventh in the fall race in 2014. Armstrong appears to have finally broke his streak of bad luck and looks to better last year’s efforts.

He has three starts at RIR in the NASCAR XFINITY Series resulting in one Top-10 and an average starting position of 16th. As an organization, RPM made seven XFINITY Series starts at the short tack, with one Top-Five and four Top-10 finishes. Currently, Armstrong sits 14th in the XFINITY Series Championship Point Standings.

“Richmond is one of my favorite tracks. We ran really well here last year in the fall, and it was the best finish of my rookie year. The keys to speed here are having a car that turns well through the center and having good drive off. If you can keep your car charging hard off the corner exit on old tires and stay out of trouble, you’ll be a contender. We have great notes from this race last year that we’ve used for the setup. We’re all looking forward to this one.”

No. 43 WinField Ford

A performance and marketing driven company, Richard Petty Motorsports, co-owned by NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty and successful business entrepreneur Andrew Murstein, is one of the most recognized brands in all of motorsports. With a history of over 200 wins and business partnerships with national and global leaders, today the race operation fields two teams in competition in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Aric Almirola pilots the famous No. 43 Ford Fusion with primary partners Smithfield Foods, U.S. Air Force, STP and Fresh From Florida, and Sam Hornish Jr. drives the No. 9 machine with primary partners Medallion Bank and Twisted Tea. In addition, Dakoda Armstrong wheels the No. 43 WinField Ford Mustang full-time in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. The team is headquartered in Mooresville, N.C.
