Biffle Leaves Dover with a 13th-Place Finish

DOVER, Del. (Oct. 4, 2015) – Hurricane Joaquin made a solid attempt at washing out the Dover race weekend but in the end NASCAR prevailed. Rains washed out on-track activity Friday, starting the field by points, which lined Biffle up 20th. Sunday stayed dry and Biffle was able to drive his No. 16 Ortho Ford Fusion to a 13th-place finish despite having a final set of tires on the car that caused a tight-handling condition.

On-track activity was washed out on Friday, but clearer skies came on Saturday afternoon and the Sprint Cup cars were able to hit the track for a short practice session. The starting lineup was set by points after qualifying was rained out Friday and everyone had the same amount of limited track time heading into 400-miles of racing Sunday afternoon.

Biffle had a good handling Ortho Ford Fusion but was on the verge of being too loose the entire race. Air pressure and wedge adjustments throughout the race helped chip away at the loose condition. Over long green flag runs, Biffle went a lap down to the leaders about halfway through the race but was the “lucky dog” recipient two short cautions later and remained on the lead lap the rest of the race.

The field took the final restart with 24 laps to go and Biffle was sitting 13th. Unfortunately the last set of tires caused the handling to go from a little loose to plowing tight. Biffle didn’t get his best restart of the race and lost some ground but was able to battle his way back to cross the finish line 13th.
