Biffle Finishes 21st at Phoenix

AVONDALE, Ariz. (March 13, 2016) – Right-front tire wear was an issue across the board Sunday afternoon at Phoenix International Raceway. Biffle had his hands full with the handling on his No. 16 Cheez-it Ford Fusion, but was able to keep the right-front in one piece to cross the finish line 21st.

Greg Biffle started the 312-lap race from the 13th position in his No. 16 Cheez-it Ford. Biffle made gains in the opening laps before a loose handling condition took over. Just 50 laps in Biffle radioed to his team that he thought his right-front tire was coming apart, one lap later the caution was out for a right-front down for another competitor. Biffle was able to pit for chassis adjustments and four fresh tires.

The loose handling condition continued and Biffle got passed by the leaders just over 100 laps into the race. Luckily, the caution came out shortly after and he was awarded the “lucky dog” and was back on the lead lap.

Biffle continued to linger on the lead lap over long green-flag runs, but in the end the handling woes prevailed and he was passed by the leaders. The race went into overtime and Biffle made it to the end to cross the finish line 21st in the Cheez-it Ford.
