Burton Heading Home to Virginia in Third Richmond Start

No. 43 J. Streicher Team Has Eyes on Dash 4 Cash Prize

This weekend at Richmond International Raceway will be a homecoming for the Halifax, Virginia native. The Burton family name has a lot of history at Richmond, and Jeb Burton is looking to write his name in that chapter as he makes his third career start at the 3/4-mile track. As a Championship Points contending XFINITY Series driver, Burton will also be competing in Dash 4 Cash this weekend at Richmond.

Burton finished seventh in Heat 2 of the Dash 4 Cash races last weekend at Bristol, just missing competing for the Dash 4 Cash prize money by one position. Burton will need to be one of the top two XFINITY Series Championship Points Contending drivers in the heat race this weekend to be eligible to compete for the Dash 4 Cash prize money in the main event on Saturday. Burton has yet to visit the track in an XFINITY Series car or a Camping World Truck Series truck, and had two starts in the Cup Series last year.

“Richmond is a home track for me, and I have a lot of fun memories from there when I was a kid. My dad got the pole and track record there in 2002 when I was a little kid, and it would be cool if I could go there and win. My uncle (Jeff Burton) also won there in 1998, and with it being so close to my hometown, it really is a track that is special to me and my family. I have a bunch of friends and family coming, so I’m excited to put on a good show for them. Our No. 43 J. Streicher team has a little bit of momentum now with the 12th-place finish last week. Our Ford Mustang for this weekend is a lot better than anything we’ve taken this season; and in my opinion is the best car we’ve had all year. Drew (Blickensderfer, Crew Chief) has a lot of confidence and notes for Richmond. I’m excited to get there and compete in the Dash 4 Cash again this weekend. We were one spot short of competing last week, but now, we get to work on our car after seeing the new heat races in real life and that will help since we’re a new group. The goal is to get in for Dash 4 Cash this week, and hopefully, bring some prize money – and a checkered flag – home to Richard Petty Motorsports this weekend.”
