Young’s Motorsports To Field Additional NASCAR Truck Series Entry At Iowa Speedway

MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (May 10, 2016) – Officials from Young’s Motorsports today announced that the Mooresville, North Carolina-based team will field an additional NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) entry in the upcoming race at Iowa Speedway on June 18.

Newcomer Derek Scott Jr. will join teammate and Midland, Texas native Tyler Young for the eighth race of the season.

Scott, 16, hails from Franklin, Texas and began his racing career by achieving numerous go-kart wins and titles.

Accelerating his path forward, Scott also has several starts in a NASCAR Pro and Super Late Model which includes two pro feature victories on top of numerous top-five performances in both divisions.

“This is a dream come true,” said Scott Jr. “I can’t thank Tyler (Young) and his Young’s Motorsports team for this opportunity. I want to thank my family, friends, team and MPM Marketing for their support. Hopefully, we can make some gains in our first race together and it opens the door for more potentially down the road.”

While the team is enjoying a breakout year in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, the family-owned and operated team is also building a foundation as a driver development organization where the team specializes on the fundamentals of a core development structure. Debuting a second truck at Iowa Speedway adds to the inner circle of Young’s Motorsports growth this season which includes a part-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series East program with driver Reid Wilson.

“We’re excited to welcome Derek to the Young’s Motorsports team,” said driver and team manager Tyler Young. “I’ve spent some time with Derek and his positive attitude is not only contagious, but should fit in nicely with the values we have a team. We’re looking forward to Iowa Speedway next month and the opportunity to put two trucks inside the top-10.”

Sponsorship for Scott’s entry is being finalized and will be announced closer to the event date.
