Tickets for Richmond International Raceway’s September 9-10 NASCAR Weekend On Sale Tomorrow

One of the most anticipated weekends on the NASCAR schedule is coming to Richmond International Raceway September 9-10, and tickets for the two-day event go on sale this Friday at 9:00 a.m. With a new Chase qualifying format and tempers always flaring at America’s Premier Short Track, this is expected to be an intense weekend in Richmond.

The Saturday, September 10, “One Last Race to Make The Chase” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event is the final race before the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The top 10 in driver point standings will earn a berth in the championship field and two “wild card” drivers will also earn a spot. The “wild card” positions go to the two drivers with the most wins who are ranked 11-20 in the point standings, which means there could be an abundance of drivers battling it out for the win “under the lights” at Richmond International Raceway.

“This very well could be one of the most intense, tempered and exciting races ever at Richmond International Raceway,” said track president Doug Fritz. “Being One Last Race to Make The Chase always carries a great deal of emotion with drivers trying to race their way into the top positions. But now it’s even crazier with multiple drivers who will be battling to earn the final two ‘wild card’ spots by having the most wins.”

Tickets for “One Last Race to Make The Chase” start at $45 in advance and can be purchased online at www.rir.com or by calling 866-455-7223. Not only will fans enjoy the excitement on the track, but they’ll be treated to a Video Scoring Tower that is viewable from every seat, as well as new-for-2011 amenities including wider seats, concourse televisions and even larger cooler sizes allowed, enabling fans to bring in more food and beverages than before.

The weekend begins on Friday, September 9, highlighted by the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race “under the lights.” All of the full-time Nationwide drivers will beat and bang with several Sprint Cup Series stars. Friday’s ticket includes practice and Fas Mart Pole Qualifying for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as practice and WRIC-TV8 Pole Qualifying for the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Friday’s advance tickets start at $30, with children 12 and younger admitted free with a ticketed adult in general admission sections.
