STATUS UPDATE: 10 race events are now complete in the 2011 Truck Series season. Timothy Peters and the No. 17 team remain winless and sit seventh in the championship standings. However, with the new point system in place Peters is only 17 points out of third in the championship battle.

DID YOU KNOW?: Peters could drive his Toyota Tundra from his home in Danville, Virginia to Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa and still be 908 miles short of the number of miles he has competed on track thus far this season. It is 1,051 miles from Danville to Newton and the Truck Series has completed 1,959 so far on track across 10 races this season.

MOST POPULAR DRIVER VOTING: The voting is now open to cast your ballot for this year’s most popular NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver. Fans can visit www.nascar.com in order to cast your vote for this year’s winner.

NEW ADDITION: Peters is known for his quiet demeanor off the track and professionalism on the track. However, what some may not know about is his love for animals. Peters and wife Sara currently own two chocolate labs named Dover and Blue. The Peters will welcome a new addition to the family in early August as they welcome a new Great Dane puppy to the family. The new pup does not have name yet.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 17 team will utilize chassis No. 093 this weekend at Iowa Speedway. Truck No. 093 is essentially a brand new chassis for the No. 17 team.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last week at Kentucky Speedway Peters and the No. 17 team brought home a 16th-place finish after fighting a loose-handling race truck.

Timothy Peters Talks about Iowa Speedway

What is your favorite thing about Iowa Speedway?

“It is a track where I am more in my element. I love short-track racing. The first year the Trucks traveled to Iowa our team scored a top 10 finish; we were on our way there last year but had a mechanical failure. My favorite thing about Iowa Speedway is that it is a high speed short-track that fills the stands every time our series goes there.”

Do you think the Truck Series needs more tracks like Iowa Speedway?

“I would like to see more tracks like Iowa. I love that we are tapping into new race markets and reaching more Truck Series fans. I grew up racing at tracks like Iowa Speedway and I would like for the younger generation of drivers who are coming into this series to be able to race on a variety of tracks that are unique like Iowa.”
