ADVANCE NOTES
Reed at Dover
This weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Dover International Speedway marks Ryan Reed’s 10th start at the Monster Mile. In his nine previous starts, Reed has one top-five and two top-10 finishes. His best finish of fifth came in the 2017 spring race.
Dover 2018
Ryan Reed was running 15th and chasing down the next pack in front of him when contact from another competitor sent him into the turn two wall. Multiple pit stops for repairs ensued, but Reed was able to stay on the lead lap to cross the finish line 19th in his No. 16 Drive Down A1C Lilly Diabetes Ford.
Reed on Dover
“We had a top five last year and that was by far my best Dover race. Dover has been a track that I’ve struggled at in the past and we struggled there at the beginning of this year. The good news is we have a top five there, we know that we can do it. I know as a driver I can do it. We just have to go to work and really figure out our setup for that place. We are heading in the right direction. We’re seeing what Matt, Ricky and Trevor are doing on the Cup side to get better, we need to keep using all that information throughout our organization. Dover is a place we have the opportunity to run good, but if we don’t make the right decisions we can go run 13th or 14th and not be in the Playoffs after that, so there is a lot of pressure. I’ve been a part of a few of these cutoff races and they are so intense, so much pressure. We just have to go there and execute.”
