TODAY’S RACE:

A total of 20 Team Chevy drivers will start the 1000Bulbs.com 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) race at Talladega Speedway. The 188-lap/500-mile contest around the 2.66-mile superspeedway is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., ET. Live coverage can be found on NBC, MRN and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

PACING PINK:

For the eighth consecutive season, Chevrolet has partnered with the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC).

For every caution flag the pink Chevrolet Camaro SS paces the field in today’s 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, Chevrolet will contribute $350 per lap (up to $50,000).

Chevrolet is also running a special social media program that encourages people to ‘Share Who Inspires Them to End this Disease’ by using the hashtag ‘#IDriveFor’. For every social media post using ‘#IDriveFor’ on Twitter and Instagram during the month of October, Chevrolet will contribute $5 to the MSABC program (up to $400,000).

CHEVROLET DRIVERS STARTING IN THE TOP-10:

  • Chase Elliott, No. 9 NAPA Nightvision Lamps Camaro ZL1 will start 5th
  • Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe’s for Pros Camaro ZL1 rolls off 6th
  • Alex Bowman, No. 88 Nationwide Camaro ZL1 starts 7th
  • William Byron, No. 24 Hertz Camaro ZL1 will start in the 8th position

TEAM CHEVY IN MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES COMPETITION:

· Chevrolet has won 39 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Manufacturer Championships

· Team Chevy drivers have scored 778 wins and 699 poles in MENCS competition

CHEVROLET ON THE TRACK—TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY:

  • Chevrolet drivers have won 40 of 98 races at Talladega Superspeedway. Victories by current Team Chevy drivers are:
    Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe’s for Pros Camaro ZL1, has gone to Victory Lane at Talladega Superspeedway twice (’06 & ’11)
    Jamie McMurray, No. 1 DC Solar Camaro ZL1, has two wins at Talladega Superspeedway (’09 & ‘13)
  • A Chevrolet driver has sat on the pole at Talladega Superspeedway 35 times
  • Team Chevy drivers have scored 187 top-five and 354 top-10 finishes at Talladega Superspeedway
  • A Chevrolet has led laps 7,766 (41.1% of possible 18,880 laps) at Talladega Superspeedway
