THE WINDY CITY: Chicago is known for many things, wind, food and racing. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series made their debut at Chicagoland Speedway in 2009. Miguel Paludo will make his debut at Chicagoland Speedway this weekend. Thus far in 2011, the driver of the No. 7 Stemco/Duroline Toyota Tundra has had mixed luck at the five 1.5-mile track the series has already visited scoring his best finish on 1.5-mile venues earlier this season at Texas Motor Speedway coming home eighth.

HISPANIC TEST MARKET: Earlier this season Paludo traveled to Daytona Beach, Florida to tape a commercial targeting Hispanic race fans. That commercial will begin airing on local Chicago affiliates beginning this weekend. Paludo and other Latin American drivers will participate in a special autograph session this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. This special session will be held in the midway area beginning at 12:30pm, CDT.

MOST POPULAR DRIVER VOTING: The voting is now open to cast your ballot for this year’s most popular NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver. Fans can visit www.nascar.com in order to cast your vote for this year’s winner.Fans can vote once per day every day for their favorite driver.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 7 team will unload chassis No. 110 this week at Chicagoland Speedway. The last time this chassis hit the track was two weeks ago at Atlanta Motor Speedway where a pit road speeding penalty late in the event relegated the No. 7 team to a 22nd-place finish. Paludo has piloted chassis No. 110 four previous times in 2011 at Darlington Raceway, Dover International Speedway, Michigan International Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Two weeks ago at Atlanta Motor Speedway Paludo fought a loose-handing race truck throughout the event until the final segment. The No. 7 Stemco/Duroline Toyota Tundra was coming to Paludo when the team was forced to pit road with only a handful of laps remaining to take on a splash of fuel to be able to make it to the end of the event. In the exchange Paludo was cited for a pit road speeding penalty and had to come down pit road a second time for a pass through. The extra time spent on pit road resulted in a 22nd-place finish.

Miguel Paludo Talks about Chicagoland Speedway:

The Truck Series has traveled to five 1.5-mile tracks this season. You have had mixed results at these tracks. How different are the tracks that the Truck Series competes on?

The tracks that we compete on are very different. However, the last 1.5-mile track we went to our team did a great job in preparing the truck at the shop and we were really close. That definitely helps a young driver like myself when the set-up is close to my comfort level I can then learn the track more quickly. I’ve learned to be patient at these types of tracks and I’ve learned to hit my marks. As the year progresses my communication with Rick is getting better so that we make the right adjustments. Those things are what continue to put us up front like at Michigan where we had a shot at the win.

How hard is it as a rookie driver to adapt to tracks week to week? Are there some you catch on to quickly and others you struggle with?

When you go to a new track you never know what to expect. It is hard to adapt but I’ve been doing well. The first lap on the track is always interesting but once you get up to speed you catch on quickly and you follow those drivers that do have experience and learn from them.
