CORNELIUS, N.C. – The No. 00 Aaron’s Dream Machine driver David Reutimann and his Michael Waltrip Racing team will spend Tuesday and Wednesday testing at the newly configured Phoenix International Raceway before traveling to Kansas Speedway for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race.

NEW PHOENIX LAYOUT AND REPAVE: “At this point I’m undecided. Starting off today it’s been really, really slick and it’s been hard to get the cars comfortable, so I’m still kind of undecided as to what I think about the track at this point.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK IT’LL DO TO THE RACING? “I don’t know what it’s going to do for the racing yet. There hasn’t been enough rubber or laps put on the racetrack to really know what it’s going to be, but right now it’s not very good. Not very good at all, but it’s a new racetrack and we’re hoping once it get some rubber on it and we all get to work on our cars a bit it’ll continue to get better.”

TIMING OF REDESIGN: “The sooner the better really is kind of how I look at it. We have to get laps on the racetrack, rubber on the racetrack and get used to it. I think the more laps we get on it the better it’ll be, but right now it’s pretty scary. As far as the Chase guys go and determining a championship – I guess we’ll find out when we get here. We all have to race on the same racetrack and no one has an advantage or disadvantage on a new racetrack. We all know ahead of time what to expect . I don’t have a problem with doing it now.”

KANSAS: “I like Kansas and I like going to 1.5 mile racetracks. We didn’t have a very good race there earlier in the year so in that regard we’d like to try and turn it around. We’re coming off a decent race in Dover, trying to learn some things for next year and have some races toward the end. A win or two in these final races would change how everyone looks at our season.”
