Jason White on Daytona: “Daytona is one of my favorite race tracks. Much like a lot of the other drivers, growing up I dreamt about racing at Daytona and to be able to do it year after year never gets old. Everything about Daytona is huge and it means so much to run good there. We have had good trucks the last few years and that is so important at that place. My team has worked really hard over the winter and I think we have a great package to bring to Daytona once again. We have great horsepower being supplied to us by Roush Yates Engines and the truck is the same one we sat on the pole in 2010 and the guys have worked on making it even better. I am ready and looking forward to a great Speedweeks.”
Jason’s Past Performance at Daytona: This will mark Jason’s sixth NCWTS start at the 2.5 mile tri-oval of Daytona International Speedway. He won the Pole Award for the 2010 season opener and went on to a career best fourth place finish. Daytona will also mark his 130th start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Jason’s Thoughts on 2012 Season: “Well it feels great to be back and running our own team again. I receive tremendous support from my sponsor – GunBroker.com – and could not do any of this without them. We have moved back into our old shop and assembled a great group of guys who all have the same goal as me – run up front each and every race and put ourselves in a position to win races. We have put a lot of the pieces of the puzzle together and I expect this to be my best year yet. Doug George, crew chief, brings a tremendous amount of experience and he knows how to get to Victory Lane. Our engine program with Rough Yates will give us something we have never had in the past and that is so important.
I have very high hopes for this coming season and really feel that this is the best situation I have ever had in the sport.”
Daytona Bullet:
The GunBroker.com team will be bringing the truck they nicknamed “RockStar” to Daytona. The truck was named by Jason after his favorite song – “RockStar” performed by Nickelback. When the truck was built Jason and the team knew it was going to be good and perform like a RockStar so the name stuck. The truck proved them all right as “RockStar” earned Jason his first career pole award in 2010 at the season opener in Daytona and went on to finish fourth in the race. The same year the truck would qualify second and finish ninth in Talladega. Since then, the team has worked on updating the truck and making it even better.
Jason’s Poker Face: Daytona is the one place all season that drivers will display their “Poker Face”. Jason is accustomed to using his own “Poker Face” on a regular basis
as during his time away from the track he loves to find a friendly game of Poker. So much so that in 2009 he traveled to Las Vegas to participate in the highly popular
“World Series of Poker”. So before taking his No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford onto the track this week in Daytona, Jason will be given the opportunity to show off his
“Poker Face” as he will participate in “High Speed Hold ‘Em on the Halifax” on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. This unique poker event is a fundraiser for The NASCAR
Foundation and will feature fellow drivers, celebrities and professional poker stars like Annie Duke. The event will be held at the new clubhouse of MG on the Halifax.
