Tommy Baldwin Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Advance — Kansas Speedway

Race: STP 400

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series: 8 of 36

Track: Kansas Speedway

Track Length: 1.5 miles

Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) will hit the pavement at Kansas Speedway for the final time before the track’s scheduled repave. With both cars locked into the STP 400, TBR will look for two solid finishes to keep both teams locked into the top-35 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) points. David Reutimann will pilot the No. 10 Accell Construction Chevrolet, while Dave Blaney gets behind the wheel of the No. 36 TBR Chevrolet this weekend at Kansas Speedway.

TBR AT KANSAS – The STP 400 will mark TBR’s fourth start at the 1.5-mile track. Blaney drove in the team’s two starts last season tallying the team’s best start from the 38th position and finish of 31st place in the fall event at the Kansas City track.

David Reutimann – No. 10 Accell Construction Chevrolet REUTIMANN AT KANSAS – Reutimann has six career starts at Kansas Speedway. He collected one top-10 finish with an eighth-place run in 2009. He tallied his best start of 13th in the same event. The Zephyrhills, Fla., native made three starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Kansas, where he brought home top-20 finishes in each event. He also made three starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and finished in the top-15 in each, including a third-place finish in 2005.

ACCELL CONSTRUCTION – Prior to Martinsville Speedway, Accell Construction made a three-race commitment with Tommy Baldwin Racing adding to the Oklahoma-based company’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) program. David Reutimann will pilot the No. 10 Accell Construction Chevrolet at Martinsville Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway. The 20-year-old company sponsored the No. 10 Chevrolet at Phoenix International Raceway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Auto Club Speedway. Continuing to see an increase in interest of the company, Accell Construction decided to extend their relationship with the NSCS team.

CHASSIS NO. 356 – TBR bought Chassis No. 356 in the off-season from Richard Childress Racing. Reutimann drove the chassis at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Auto Club Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway this season. At Vegas, he started in the 31st position, and a sparking wire in the cockpit relegated the team to a 31st-place finish. At California, he started 18th and finished in the 27th position. He had his best showing in the chassis at Texas Motor Speedway when he drove from the 31st starting spot to finish in 26th place.

IN THE POINTS – The No. 10 Accell Construction team’s 26th-place finish in Texas moved the team back into the top-35 in NSCS Owner Points and locked the team in by four points. The Chevrolet team is now in 34th place, nine points behind the No. 93 in 33rd and three points ahead of the No. 83 in 35th. Reutimann is 31st in NSCS Driver Points. He is three points behind David Gilliland and two points ahead of Blaney.

David Reutimann Quotes: ON RACING AT KANSAS SPEEDWAY – “For Kansas being a newer facility, the surface has gotten pretty slick. Cars slide around a lot, so you have to fight that. Tommy and the guys will have to be on their toes to make the car drive well. It’s not easy anywhere we go, but Kansas is especially challenging. I look forward to going back next time after the repave.”

Dave Blaney – No. 36 Tommy Baldwin Racing Chevrolet BLANEY AT KANSAS – Blaney will make his 12th start this weekend at Kansas Speedway. He scored his best finish of 10th in his first start at the speedway in 2001, and he wheeled to his best starting spot of 17th in 2006, both while driving for Bill Davis Racing. Last season, the Hartford, Ohio native drove from the 38th starting spot in the fall event to finish in 31st place.

CHASSIS NO. 100 – Blaney will pilot chassis No. 100 this weekend. TBR bought the chassis from Red Bull Racing. Blaney drove the chassis at Bristol Motor Speedway earlier this season.

IN THE POINTS – The No. 36 Chevrolet fell to the 31st position in the NSCS Owner Points. The team is now five points behind the No. 38, tied with the No. 32 and 14 points ahead of the 36th position. Blaney moved to 32nd place in NSCS Driver Points. He is now two points behind teammate Reutimann and 13 points ahead of Landon Cassill.

Dave Blaney Quotes: ON RACING AT KANSAS – “The track has aged really nicely. The groove is very wide, and the track always puts on a good race. The area is a good area for race fans too. There is a lot of racing going on in that area, whether it is NASCAR, dirt cars, late models or sprint cars, so it is fun place to go.”

Dave Blaney drove the No. 36 Chevrolet to TBR’s highest finish of third in the October 2011 event at Talladega Superspeedway. TBR also fielded a second car for select races in the past two seasons with multiple drivers.
