No. 30 Alpinestars Chevrolet News and Notes

We’re seeing stars… The No. 30 team welcomes Alpinestars to Nelson Piquet Jr.’s Chevrolet in Charlotte this weekend. Alpinestars teamed up with London based artist David Gwyther, the mastermind behind Death Spray Custom, to create this weekend’s eye-catching paint scheme and fire suit. Follow along on Twitter for all of the updates on the collaborative effort between @NelsonPiquet, @Alpinestars, and @DeathSpray.

This week’s Silverado… The No. 30 Alpinestars team is bringing chassis TMS-210 to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the NC Education Lottery 200. This chassis last saw action at Kansas Speedway.

Worth a tri… With the recent break from action on the track in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Piquet Jr. decided to take part in some racing of his own. On Saturday May 12th, Piquet Jr. took place in the Jetton Park Annual Triathlon, completing a 750m swim, 20k bike ride and a 5k run. Proceeds from the weekend’s event benefitted the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte.

Welcome home…The 26-year-old Brazilian resides just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina on beautiful Lake Norman and couldn’t be happier with his surroundings. Since his relocation to the area, Piquet Jr. now considers Charlotte Motor Speedway his home track. This will be the third time Piquet Jr. will go racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and with an average start of 15.5 and average finish of 18.5, Piquet Jr. is determined to improve his statistics this weekend with his No. 30 Alpinestars team.

Watch LIVE… Coverage of the NC Education Lottery 200 will be live from Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 18th, 2012 at 8:00 pm EST on SPEED, with pre-race coverage starting at 7:30 pm EST. For even more coverage you can also tune in to MRN Radio or SiriusXM Satellite NASCAR channel 90.

Nelson Piquet Jr. on returning to Charlotte Motor Speedway

“I’m ready for Charlotte. This will be my third time competing here and I’m more prepared than I have ever been. With Alpinestars on my truck this weekend, a trip to victory lane would be great. The No. 30 team has been working so hard, and we’ve been coming so close that I have a feeling our first victory is due. I would love to get my first NCWTS win at Charlotte Motor Speedway in front of friends and family. Since relocating from Brazil to North Carolina, I now consider Charlotte my home track, and everyone wants to win on their home track.”

No. 31 Exide Batteries Chevrolet News and Notes

This Week’s Silverado… The No. 31 Exide Batteries team will bring chassis TMS-214 to the 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS).  TMS-011 last saw action three weeks ago when Buescher led 101-laps in route to his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) victory at Kansas Speedway.

Welcome Back… Turner Motorsports is pleased to announce the return of Exide Technologies as a marketing partner for the 2012 season.  The Atlanta, Ga.-based company will adorn the hood of the No. 31 Chevrolet for a select number of races throughout the 2012 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season.  Exide Technologies, with operations in more than 80 countries, is one of the world’s largest producers and recyclers of lead-acid batteries. The company’s four global business groups — Transportation Americas, Transportation Europe and Rest of World, Industrial Energy Americas and Industrial Energy Europe and Rest of World — provide a comprehensive range of stored electrical energy products and services for industrial and transportation applications.

Nice Stats… Buescher has three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at CMS with an average finish of 6.66.  The 22-year-old driver had a solid run in 2010, starting on the outside pole and finishing inside the top-five, taking the checkered flag in the fourth spot.  Buescher backed up that performance last year, running inside the top-five all night for a second consecutive fourth-place result.

Get to the Point (s)… After capturing his first career NCWTS win three weeks ago at Kansas Speedway in dominating fashion, Buescher rocketed into the runner-up position in the championship point standings.  The Texas native sits four points out of the lead with 18 events remaining on the 2012 schedule.

Follow Me… Visit www.twitter.com/jamesbuescher or www.facebook.com/jamesbuescherracing for the latest news and updates on James Buescher and the No. 31 Exide Batteries team.

Watch and Listen… The NC Education Lottery 200 can be seen live on Friday, May 18th on SPEED.  Race coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 90.

James Buescher on driving at Charlotte Motor Speedway

“We have Exide Batteries back as a partner in 2012.  They are such a great company with reliable products and we are lucky to be able to represent them both on and off the race track.

“Charlotte Motor Speedway is a great venue.  The facility is second-to-none and the track is a great place to race.  You can run two-wide all the way through the corners and the top has just as much grip as the bottom.  We had a great run there last year and I am looking for more of the same on Friday in our Exide Batteries Chevy.”

No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components Chevrolet News and Notes

Informações Chassis (This Week’s Silverado)…Miguel Paludo and the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components Silverado team will utilize chassis TMS-213 this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This is the same truck Paludo drove to his first top-10 finish of the season at Kansas Speedway in April.

São Precisos Dois (It Takes Two)…Paludo heads to Charlotte Motor Speedway for only the second time in his racing career. In his first visit to NASCAR’s “home track,” Paludo had a top-10 truck before an engine failure forced him to retire from the race early, ultimately resulting in a 35th-place finish at the 1.5-mile quad-oval.

Em Meados (In The Middle)…More indicative of Paludo’s potential this weekend is a look at his stats on intermediate (1-2 mile) tracks. Paludo has earned more top-10 finishes (six) at intermediate tracks than at any other configuration the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series visits. Five of those top-10 finishes have been at earned at 1.5-mile tracks like CMS.

Pare De Diabetes (Stop Diabetes)…Last week, Paludo, a type 1 diabetic, and his wife Patricia discovered that their eight-month old son Oliver is also one of the 366 million people worldwide living with the diabetes. In response, Paludo will be running a special “Stop Diabetes” logo on the tonneau cover of the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components Chevrolet this weekend in Charlotte. For more information about the cause, please visit. www.diabetes.org.

Facto Diabetes da Semana (Diabetes Fact of the Week)…Paludo’s home country of Brazil has the fifth-highest rate of diabetes in the world, with 12,440,000 people diagnosed as of 2011. The United States is ranked third, with over 23,721,000 living with diabetes. First on the list? China, which has over 90,000,000 cases as of 2011.

Corrida Anterior (Previous Race Recap)…Paludo and the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components truck posted a solid day at Kansas Speedway, running consistently fast lap times and boasting near-perfect handling for much of the SFP 250, before bringing home a 10th-place finish. The team battled back from a poorly-timed caution and restarts behind struggling competitors to earn their first top-10 of the season.

Siga-me (Follow Me)…Visit www.twitter.com/miguelpaludo or www.facebook.com/miguelpaludo for the latest news and updates on Paludo and the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components team.

Veja e Ouça (Watch and Listen)…The N.C. Education Lottery 200 can be seen live on Friday, May 18th on SPEED.  Race coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Miguel Paludo on driving at Charlotte Motor Speedway

“I can’t wait to get back to the racetrack. We had our first top-10 finish of the season in Kansas, and whenever you have a good race, you want everyone on the team to keep that confidence and momentum. I’m hoping we can get to Charlotte and build on that race and put together a few really good races in the coming weeks. I think we already have a good head start because we’re bringing the same truck we brought to Kansas, and it was a well-balanced truck that handled really well. I also really enjoy racing at the 1.5-mile tracks, those are the tracks where I consistently seem to run the best. I’m hoping that we can put all these positive things together and come out of Charlotte really happy with our result.”
