No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet News and Notes

Weekend Rewind: Darlington – The “Lady In Black” proved to be a bit of a challenge for Justin Allgaier and his No. 31 BRANDT Racing team last weekend. Allgaier wrestled with a tight-handling car throughout the extended 151-lap race, but led eight laps en route to a 13th-place finish. The top-15 result cemented Allgaier firmly in the seventh spot in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) point standings.

Allgaier at Iowa Speedway – Since the first NNS event at the .875-mile track in 2009, Allgaier has made four starts at Iowa Speedway. In those four attempts, he has finished twice in the top-10 and led 46 laps over two races. Allgaier scored his track-best finish of eighth on two occasions, 2010 as well as the spring 2011 race. The Illinois-native has an average starting spot of 6.2 coupled with an average finish of 15.0.

Getting Back to His Roots – Prior to joining his BRANDT team at Iowa Speedway on Friday, Allgaier will make a stop at home in Illinois to hit the dirt tracks in Lincoln, IL (Lincoln Speedway) and Peoria, IL (Peoria Speedway) to race the No. 31 BRANDT UMP Dirt Modified car. Allgaier hopes to make other starts throughout the summer months, which will be announced at a later date.

Come See Me – Allgaier will join fellow drivers, including Turner Motorsports teammate Brad Sweet, at the NNS Autograph Session at Iowa Speedway on Saturday afternoon. The singing will last 45 minutes and begin at 2:00 p.m. local time.

In The Loop – According to NASCAR Loop Statistic Data prior to the race at Iowa, Allgaier ranks in the top-five in four categories: Laps Led (fifth), Laps In Top-15 (fourth), Fastest Laps Run (fifth) and Fastest Drivers Late In A Run (fifth). Allgaier is also sixth among all drivers in the Laps Led category with 46.

This Week’s Impala – This weekend, Allgaier will pilot TMS-320 in the Pioneer Hi-Bred 250 at Iowa Speedway. This car was last raced at Richmond International Raceway three weeks ago where Allgaier came away with a 15th-place finish after starting 13th.

Allgaier on returning to the short track racing at Iowa:

“I really enjoy the opportunity we have to be the featured race at Iowa this weekend. It gives us guys that are series regulars the chance to showcase our talents and be the center of attention for the weekend to the great fans we have in Iowa. It is always so cool to go outside the track for an appearance and just see the cars lined up tailgating, and ready for short track racing. It’s been that way since we started coming here in 2009 and it’s awesome for us as drivers to look forward to. This track also has a ton of character and it’s a lot of fun to race on. It’s not as big as Dover, but when you sail off into the turns, you are carrying a ton of speed. I hope we can make it exciting with a lot of side-by-side racing with a good result for this BRANDT team.”
