Townley Posts 16th Place Finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway

[media-credit name=”charlottemotorspeedway.com” align=”alignleft” width=”250″][/media-credit]CONCORD, N.C. (May 21, 2012) – John Wes Townley piloted RAB Racing’s No. 09 Toyota ‘Save in May’ Sales Event Tundra to a 16th-place finish under the lights in Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series N.C. Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Competing in RAB Racing’s backyard, Concord, N.C., Townley and his Chris Rice-led team took to the track for Friday’s twin Camping World Truck Series practices, posting speeds fast enough for the 19th and 22nd positions, respectively.  In qualifying, Townley circled the 1.5-mile track 22nd-fastest.

In a race riddled with single-truck accidents, Townley maintained control of his Tundra, allotting him the ability to run as high as ninth. Townley finished the race in the 16th position, tying his highest finishing position this season.

Townley gained three positions in the driver point standings, climbing into the 21st slot.

“The No. 09 Toyota ‘Save in May’ Sales Event Tundra was tight the whole race, but pulled off a pretty good run here and we’re happy with it. The track tightened up a lot tonight when the temperature dropped, so when we came in to pit, we did some wedge adjustments. I think throughout the night, everybody was battling aerodynamic issues. Regardless, we’ve been steadily improving since the start of the year. We’re heading to Dover next, which is my favorite track, so I’m looking forward to that.”
