Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA heads to Barcelona for penultimate round of the WEC

October 9th, 2026 – Next week, Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA heads to Barcelona for the penultimate round of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). This will mark the first time that WEC hypercars have raced at the iconic Spanish track.

The 6 Hours of Barcelona takes place at the 4.657 km (2.894 miles), 14 turn Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The No.38 car Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R will be driven by Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber and Sebastien Bourdais, whilst the No.12 car will see the return of Alex Lynn, alongside teammates Norman Nato and Will Stevens.

The 6 Hours of Barcelona gets underway with two Free Practice sessions on Friday October 16th. A third Free Practice on Saturday will be followed by Qualifying and the 10-minute Hyperpole session. The Race is scheduled for 12pm local time on Sunday October 18th.

What they’re saying:

Jeromy Moore, Chief Engineer Cadillac Racing: “We come to Barcelona on the back of a test where we ran more than 250 laps, allowing us to experience the track for the first time in a hypercar. We expect the track conditions to be much cooler when we race there next week, which will have an influence on how the tyres and car handles, but the test still allowed us to undertake a lot of key learnings.”

“The track itself is quite high energy, meaning the teams who can manage the tyres across double stints will perform the best. Barcelona doesn’t have long straights to clear traffic or set up a pass on fellow hypercars so I expect strategy and quick pit stops to be even more important than usual.”

No. 12 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R:

Alex Lynn: “I’m so excited to be back racing with the team in Barcelona. It’s a circuit I know well, in fact I’’ve never finished off the podium in my career when racing there. I intend on hitting the ground running and contuining with that streak! I’m looking forward to being back with the team and being back in the car with Will and Norman again. ”

Norman Nato: “Whilst Barcelona is a new round on the calendar, it’s a track I know really well due to my single-seater years. Although we’ve not had much experience in prototypes on this circuit, we went testing in August, got some valuable data, and it was great fun to drive the car there. We learned some good things on set-up and tyres, but conditions for the race will be different than what we faced during the test. Tyre deg will be a concern for everyone and traffic management will be a tough one.

I’m really happy that Alex is fully recovered and is back in the car with Will and I for Barcelona. We’ll be targeting a strong result together and we are still in the fight for top three manufacturers in the Championship, which is the main target for the end of the season.”

Will Stevens: “It will be exciting being back in Barcelona which is a track I know well, but that WEC has never been to. We had a productive test back in August, which was a useful opportunity given it’s a new track. We also welcome Alex back to the team and look forward to finishing the season out strong with our trio back together.”

No. 38 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R

Jack Aitken: “I’m looking forward to being back in Barcelona, a few years since I last raced there. It’s a fun track with some technical sections and a lot of deg. We’re hoping to continue the good form we’ve had in the last few races and challenge for more podiums.”

Earl Bamber: “We had a really strong test day in Barcelona. One of the rare opportunites we get to test in WEC ahead of an event. It was productive not only for Barcelona, but for Fuji and COTA too. I’m really looking forward to racing in Spain and will be targeting our first WEC win of the season.”

Sebastien Bourdais: “We are heading towards the end of the season now with two races to go. We’ve had a lot of really strong race weekends this season and will be looking to put it all together again and secure another podium finish or a win in Barcelona.”
