RCR NOAPS Race Recap: Phoenix Raceway

Jesse Love and the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet Team Earn Pole, Sweep Stages, and Capture Victory at Phoenix Raceway to Take Over Points Lead

Finish: 1st
Start: 1st
Points: 1st

“These are the types of days that our Whelen team prepares for, not just dreams of. I have a great group of people around me that prepare me to be in these situations and stay calm, cool, and collected. I’ve learned from a lot of mistakes that allow me to execute at a high level, especially at a track like this that feels like I’ve been here a million times. This is my favorite racetrack, and I have been coming here my whole life as a west coast kid. I was having to drive a lot over the tire to make any sort of lap time there at the end. I’m grateful to the Lord above for putting great people behind me and glad to win another one for RCR and ECR. It’s been a tough year for us, so grateful to be in this situation. I have a great pit crew who just mauls everyone on pit road every week and makes my job a lot easier. Proud of this whole group.” -Jesse Love

Top-15 Result for Austin Hill and the No. 21 Titan Cattle Company Chevrolet at Phoenix Raceway

Finish: 15th
Start: 10th
Points: 9th

“Not a good race for our Titan Cattle Company Chevrolet. I made a mistake and sped on pit road and then we fought the balance with a lot of various things. I was loose in one moment, tight in the next. Could slide the fronts then chatter shortly after. Everything that you could have in a race car that you don’t want, happened to us tonight. We had more speed than 15th though. Not sure where we would have finished but it probably would have been somewhere in the top-10. Just sloppy. We have to do a better job, on my end with certain things and in general as a team. We have to figure out what the miss is here at Phoenix. That’s the unfortunate thing about this place. It has been good to me at times and then there have been nights like tonight where we run 15th.” -Austin Hill
