JASON BOWLES RETURNS TO MONTREAL LOOKING FOR FIRST CAREER TOP-10 FINISH IN AMERICAN MAJORITY NO. 81 TOYOTA

(MOORESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA) August 14, 2012 – If there was one race that Jason Bowles had circled on his calendar at the outset of the 2012 season, this was it. This weekend, Bowles returns to Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve for second time in his career racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for the NAPA Auto Parts 200. One year ago, Jason notched his career best finish in Montreal, recording a 13th place result.

Jason on Montreal…..“Montreal is one of those tracks that can really bite you if you aren’t careful,” explained Bowles. “Everyone always goes for it all there and it can cause a lot of accidents. If we can avoid some of the early messes and stay out of trouble, this will definitely be our team’s best shot at a top-10 this season. I learned a lot running there last season and I hope we can use those notes to make our American Majority No. 81 Toyota a front running race car.”

Long week for the crew…..Right in the middle of a 16 race swing with no off weekends, the MacDonald Motorsports guys have a very long week in New York and Montreal. Following the race at Watkins Glen, the crew remains in New York, working on the race car before heading north to Montreal on Wednesday. This is the only race all season in which the team will be staying on the road rather than making the trip back home to Mooresville, NC.

Knocking on door for best career finish…..Over the last 12 races, Jason has been right on the edge of eclipsing his career best finish of 13th from Montreal just last season. Over that span, Bowles has finished between 14th and 17th position seven times. As strong as the car has been lately, Montreal could be the place for Jason to get his first career top-10.

Tight race for 10th in points…..The current battle for 10th in the NASCAR Nationwide Series point standings is as tight as ever. 10th – 15th in the standings are separated by just 43 points. With positions swapping each weekend among the six drivers, it’s going to go down the last race of the season. Jason sits right in the middle of the action, 13th in points.

Watkins Glen Re-Cap…..After qualifying 27th, Bowles advanced through the field quickly, racing inside the top-15 most of the afternoon. The team struggled getting a balance on the race car as it was tight one direction and loose the other. Jason, however, did an excellent job to stay towards the front of the field and bring home a 17th place finish.

Watch the race…..Fans can catch the race from Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal this Saturday afternoon. The NAPA Auto Parts 200 will go on the air live at 2:00pm ET on ESPN.
