Dave Blaney and SANY America Team Bring Home a Top-25 at Richmond

Starting off the weekend, the No. 7 SANY America Chevy SS team prepared for a full day of practice and qualifying on Friday. After making several changes to the car during the two practice sessions, Blaney was ready for qualifying. Starting 18th (his best start of the 2013 season) for Saturday’s Toyota Owners 400, Blaney was ready for 400 laps of intense racing.

As the race began, Blaney remained mid-pack, fighting to gain positions and momentum. Throughout the race, long green flag runs gave the team an opportunity to strategize about the adjustments needed to make for later in the race.

With 100 laps to go, several quick cautions allowed for Blaney to gain track position. However a caution late in the race set up the field for a green, white, checkered finish and left teams with the decision to pit or not. Crew chief Tommy Baldwin made the decision to pit with the rest of the field while just four cars stayed on track.Fresh tires allowed Blaney to make passed and take the checkered flag in 23rd, another solid top-25 finish for the SANY America team.

“I am proud of my guys – this was a great weekend for us,” said Blaney. “It started off with qualifying on Friday and starting in 18th, that set us up for a good race. Tommy and I worked throughout the race and that call on the last caution gave me fresh tires to get a solid finish for SANY.”

After the race car Team Owner and Crew Chief Tommy Baldwin commented, “Great job boys. Another solid finish for us again this weekend. Let’s keep up the good work guys.”

Dave is currently 29th in the point standings. This weekend we head to Talladega Superspeedway for the Aaron’s 499.

About Tommy Baldwin Racing

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Crew Chief Tommy Baldwin formed Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) in 2009. Baldwin utilized a declining economy to open a NSCS team with a stringent budget. The team worked to build to full-time competition, and by the 2011 season, the team’s third season, TBR competed in every race and locked the No. 36 Chevrolet in the top-35 in NSCS Owner Points. Dave Blaney drove the No. 36 Chevrolet to TBR’s highest finish of third in the October 2011 event at Talladega Superspeedway. In 2012 both cars fielded by TBR finished in the top-35 in points.

Based in Mooresville, N.C., TBR will compete in the NSCS in 2013 with NASCAR veteran Dave Blaney driving the No. 7 Chevy SS and JJ Yeley piloting the No. 36.
