FAS Lane Racing and Timmy Hill Survive Richmond Short Track Battle

RICHMOND, VA.  (April 29, 2013) – FAS Lane Racing and rookie driver Timmy Hill continued their learning process at their first short track effort together on Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway.  The duo battled the handling of their No. 32 OXYwater Ford for most of the weekend before hitting on something in the last 100 laps of the 400 lap event.   While steering clear of the late race carnage, Hill brought the OXYwater team home with a 34th place finish in the running of the Toyota Owners 400.

“Going to these tracks in a Sprint Cup car for the first time is a great learning experience for me,” stated Hill. “While I have had four Nationwide Series starts in Richmond and really like the track these Cup cars are just different.  The team and I worked hard and it takes more than a few practice sessions to find out what works for me and the car together.  So we made a lot of adjustments on the car during the race and each one made the car better.  Right there for the last portion of the race we had the car the best it had been all weekend but we were in a position that we just needed to stay out of harm’s way.  I really appreciate the hard work of everyone on the OXYwater team – this was another great learning experience for us together as we move forward throughout the season.”

Hill will return behind the wheel of the No. 32 OXYwater Ford in two weeks at Darlington Raceway while FAS Lane Racing heads to Talladega Superspeedway this week for former Sprint Cup Series Champion Terry Labonte back behind the wheel for the third time this season.

“While you always want the best result each week this was another great learning experience for Timmy and our team,” said FAS Lane Racing team owner Frank Stoddard.  “What is the most encouraging is that we got the car very good there the last 100 laps.  Together with Timmy, we just need to continue to use these experiences and get our No. 32 OXYwater Ford dialed in a little quicker each week at the track.  I am confident we will get that done and these learning experiences together are a big step in that direction.”
