Returning to Sauble Speedway where he got his career started, Kevin Cornelius would continue his streak of solid finishes going, finishing third on Saturday night.
“We’ve got a tough field here with guys like Brandon Watson, Tiemerma and Gresel so finishing in the top five, we’re very happy,” Cornelius said afterwards.
In the first heat, he would pick up the victory while finishing fourth in the second heat.
When it came time for the feature, Cornelius would start in the third position. He would battle with Derrike Tiemersma for a couple of laps for second, however would remain in the third position. He would continue to run there solidly all the way till the feature’s only caution at lap 20 for Tyler Hawn going around.
On the restart, Cornelius would hold off Glenn Watson to keep the third position and hold it the rest of the feature to pick up his third straight podium finish after a pair of seconds at Sunset Speedway.
With his fourth top five of the year at Sauble, he has only finishing outside of the top five once this year so far (seventh at Sunset in May).
