FROM ROAD COURSES TO HIGH BANKS
BRISTOL, Tenn. – After two straight race weeks on road courses, the Nationwide Series returns to the more familiar landscape of a tight, high-banked oval – in this case, Bristol Motor Speedway – this week.
Mike Wallace will be driving the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller 01 Chevrolet in Friday night’s Food City 250.
Wallace finished 23rd in the team’s March visit to BMS, one of the fastest half-mile tracks in motorsports.
“Bristol is Bristol,” Wallace said. “We’ve struggled there the last few years, and I don’t really know why. I like running the race track, although it’s changed a lot in recent years (with resurfacing and reconfigurations).
“There’s nothing more exciting and prestigious than winning the night race at Bristol. Nice trophy. Nice bragging rights.”
The Bristol race is a single-day event. Practice is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. (ET) Friday, with qualifying to follow at 3:40 p.m. The 250-lap race will get the green flag at 7:30 p.m.
THE RACE: 133 miles, 250 laps, race 23 of the Nationwide Series season.
