David Gravel Looking Forward to 2014; Seeking Partner for Current Team or Driving Opportunity

WATERTOWN, Conn. — Oct. 1, 2013 — Like most sports, in racing you have to take each opportunity that comes your way and try to take advantage of it, because they are not guaranteed. This season David Gravel found opportunity while filling in for Bill Rose and turned it into a solid first season with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.

While Gravel is looking to finish this season on a strong note, he is also focused on finding an opportunity for 2014. The native of Watertown, Conn., aims to compete full-time again in a 410-winged sprint car, preferably with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, but may not be able to achieve this goal without an opportunity. This has led Gravel to search for a partner for his DDR Motorsports team or to join a team that is in the market for a driver.

Gravel, who is the leading contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award this season with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, has won twice on the tour in 2013, paired with veteran crew chief Tyler Swank. Gravel won on the first preliminary night of the Knoxville Nationals, sprint car racing’s biggest event. The 21-year-old also visited Victory Lane at I-94 Speedway in Minnesota in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series inaugural event at that venue.

Despite missing a month of action following the Knoxville Nationals, due to a bout with mononucleosis, an enlarged spleen and a double ear infection, Gravel has recorded 24 top-10 finishes in his first full season with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, as well as being quickest in qualifying twice, including in the series most recent event at Fremont Speedway in Ohio. He has visited nearly 30 tracks for the first time this season and has gained priceless experience, competing against a number of drivers that have been racing longer than he has been alive. Prior to this season, Gravel competed with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions for four consecutive seasons, finishing among the top-five in points each of those years.

Those interested in partnering with Gravel and his team, or a current car owner that is looking for a driver for 2014, please contact him by phone at 203-509-4167 or by email at degmidget@aol.com.
