Elliott Sadler and the No. 11 OneMain Financial Team Settle for Sixth-Place Finish in Rain-Shortened Event at Phoenix International Raceway

Post-Race Highlights:
In the second event of the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series season, Elliott Sadler and the No. 11 OneMain Financial team started from the sixth position at Phoenix International Raceway.

After the green flag dropped, Sadler battled his way up to the fifth position. With rain in the area, the OneMain Financial team wasted little time working their way toward the front of the field.

Sadler came down pit road for a scheduled green flag pit stop for four tires, gas and slight adjustments on lap 88. Soon after, the No. 70 car brought out the caution. As many leader had not pit yet, this put Sadler one lap down. After a wave around, Sadler restarted in the 10th position.

At the halfway point in the scheduled 200-lap event, Sadler was in the 9th position, and he reported the car was starting to become faster on longer runs.

On lap 155, the No. 55 car blew an engine and the field came down pit road for service. Sadler came down pit road in 11th position. After two right side tires, gas and a track bar adjustment, Sadler left pit road in the eighth spot.

Moving up into the sixth position, the caution flag dropped for an accident. At the same time, the sky opened up and the rain brought out the red flag on lap 168.

With relentless rain showers, NASCAR officials called the race early. Sadler finished the day in the sixth position, and moved within six points of the lead for the Nationwide Series driver championship points.

Elliott Sadler Quotes:

“The car was really starting to take off towards the end of the race. The adjustments the team made on the last pit stop allowed me to make a great run in the last 50 laps. If the rain wouldn’t of came, I’m confident we would have gained a few more spots.Overall, this OneMain Financial team brought a great Toyota, and I’m looking forward to improving next week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
