(Mobile, AL – March 24, 2014) 2013 Defending ARCA Mobile 200 Champion, Grant Enfinger reclaimed his title on Saturday, when he earned his second win at Mobile International Speedway.
“This is pretty special,” Enfinger said. “It all got started here last year. We had to get the monkey off our back. Once we were able to do that, we can click them off better. It’s just one of those deals. It took so long to get there. I feel like the close ones that we lost, we’re getting a few of them back now.”
Enfinger, in the Team BCR No. 90 Motor Honey/Casite, Triple K Construction Ford Fusion, qualified fourth for the ARCA Mobile 200, but quickly made his way to the front where he dominated the field by lap 13. Enfinger maintained a five second advantage over the entire field during portions of the race and led a total of 185 laps.
Crew Chief, Kelly Kovski, made the call to bring in the No. 90 for two pit stops with a change of four tires and fuel both times. With consistent lap times and astonishing restarts, Enfinger had no problem taking the No. 90 to victory lane for the second time this season.
Grant Enfinger and Team BCR won the season opener at Daytona International Speedway, making Enfinger the current points leader of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. Enfinger is also making some history as the first driver to win the first two races of an ARCA Racing Series season since Jimmy Horton in 1990.
Enfinger said, “We had a great car in Daytona. I knew after testing in December, we had the car to beat. We qualified up front and won the most prestigious race there is in auto racing. Here, we also had one heck of a car. Short tracks have been our strong suit at Team BCR, and Howard Bixman and the crew has worked so hard in the off-season on our speedway program. We showed our success on that at Daytona. The car we had here today is the same car we won with twice last year. This team is a first rate driver development team, and has giving me three wins in the last five races we have competed in. I can’t say how grateful I am for this opportunity to forward my career.”
Team Manager, Howard Bixman said, “I’m really proud of Grant, not only as a driver but the well rounded man he is. He has developed into a great driver and represented this team and our partners very well. Grant is the total package, and deserves an opportunity in the NASCAR ranks. Grant is the current points leader and is the only driver to win back to back races in over a decade.”
Bixman also said, “We were very proud to take Ford powered by RoushYates Engines back to victory lane in Daytona. That’s the first time the blue oval has been there since 2001 with Ryan Newman in the ARCA Racing Series. I want to thank Kelly Kovski for coming this weekend to call the race, along with Mike Garvey for his help as well. Mike will continue throughout the year and be involved with us at the track on a weekly basis as the year goes on. We’re all very thankful for the support we receive from our partners: Motor Honey, Casite, Triple K Construction, Wurth, Stanley Industries, Ford Racing, Guthrie’s and Waste Pro.”
Enfinger also received the key to the city of Fairhope by Mayor, Tim Kant, during drivers’ introductions of the ARCA Mobile 200 to honor their hometown hero.
