TALLADEGA, AL – NASCAR Nationwide Series points leader Chase Elliott, along with Mobile, AL native Darrell Wallace Jr., are among a host of young talented drivers who are scheduled to appear as part of a NASCAR Nationwide Series autograph session at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday, kicking off the 2014 Aaron’s Dream Weekend. In addition, the stars of the ARCA Racing Series will meet with fans during the day as part of the ARCA Fan Walk and autograph session.
Centered on a jam-packed day that will see three different divisions of racing on track—the NASCAR Nationwide Series, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the ARCA Racing Series—the autograph sessions and fan walk will give fans an opportunity to see the drivers in a “locker room” type atmosphere.
The NASCAR Nationwide Series autograph session is set from 1:45 – 2:30 p.m. CT in the concourse area behind the OV Hill South frontstretch grandstand in sections D&E. Elliott, the 18-year-old sensation who has won two of the last three NASCAR Nationwide Series races, is the son of two-time Talladega Superspeedway winner Bill Elliott, who holds the “official” fastest speed recorded in NASCAR at over 212 mph set at Talladega in 1987. Driving the No. 9 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, it will be the second-generation driver’s initial start at Talladega. Wallace, a winner in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series last fall, will make his Talladega NASCAR Nationwide Series debut in the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 20 entry.
In addition to Elliott and Wallace, scheduled to appear are James Buescher, Ryan Reed, Dylan Kwasniewski, Jamie Dick, Tanner Berryhill, Ryan Reed, Dakoda Armstrong, Robert Richardson Jr., Matt DiBenedetto, Mike Bliss, Blake Koch, Jeffrey Earnhardt, John Wes Townley, as well as veterans Sam Hornish Jr. and Brendan Gaughan. All of the drivers will attempt to be part of the Aaron’s 312, which gets the green flag at 2 p.m. CT Saturday.
The ARCA Fan Walk and autograph session will be held earlier in the day from 11:30 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. CT in the ARCA Garage and is open to all guests with an infield admission (infield trams will be available). Fans will be given the unique opportunity to view the teams’ cars, watch the crews adjusting the machines, and get an autograph from the ARCA drivers and crew members. The ARCA International Motorsports Hall of Fame 200 is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, kick-starting a day that will also feature the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series all-new “Knockout” group qualifying.
“Talladega Superspeedway prides itself on providing fans with the best possible experience while they are here at the track,” said track Chairman Grant Lynch. “The NASCAR Nationwide Series autograph session and ARCA Fan Walk are two more fantastic activities added to a weekend absolutely filled with excitement. On the track we are known for having the most competitive races in the sport, but off the track we have some of the finest amenities for all of our loyal guests.”
Wristbands for the NASCAR Nationwide Series autograph session can be picked up for free from the Guest Services Office located at OV Hill South Grandstand, Section L. Driver participation is subject to change and without notice. Neither NASCAR nor any of its affiliates are sponsors of this promotion.
