Biffle Finishes 16th In No. 16 3M NOVEC Ford At Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (May 10, 2014) – The NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit celebrated Mother’s Day with a Saturday night race under the lights at Kansas Speedway.  Biffle qualified his No. 16 3M Novec Ford 10th but battled grip and track position throughout the race, ultimately crossing the finish line 16th.

“We just didn’t have what we needed,” said Biffle.  “Track position wasn’t great for us and that was super important tonight. We just still have a little bit of work to do.”

Biffle made it to the final of three rounds in qualifying on Friday afternoon, and looked to have a pole position run until he brushed the wall on the back straightaway, resulting in a 10th-place starting position.

Right from the start Biffle struggled to find grip in his No. 16 3M Novec Ford and by lap 88 he had fallen back to 19th and reported back to his team that he had brushed the wall just like he did in qualifying.  Biffle was on pit road, about to make a scheduled green flag pit stop, when the caution came out on the track.  Biffle did a drive by and remained on the lead lap by not pitting and coming back in for service when the rest of the field did under caution.

Biffle was the last car on the lead lap, so the team took their time servicing the No. 16 with four tires, fuel, track bar and wedge adjustments and fixing the slight fender damage the contact with the back straightway had caused.

The lack of grip in traffic made advancing through the field difficult for Biffle in his No. 16 3M Novec Ford, but he never gave up, crossing the finish line 16th and dropping one position in the point standings to ninth.
