A TUMS MOMENT
(For each of the 36 races during the 2011 Sprint Cup season, TUMS will provide a glimpse of a previous event at that track, one that could easily be described as A TUMS Moment. This week, the focus is on Auto Club Speedway).
A WIN THAT SLIPPED AWAY FROM JOEY LOGANO
The date was Feb. 20, 2010. Joey Logano totally dominated the Nationwide Series race at Auto Club Speedway in Southern California until Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch whisked the win away on the final lap. A green-white-checker finish gave Busch the edge he needed to muscle his way around Logano and Greg Biffle to collect his fifth consecutive Nationwide Series win at the California track.
NOTE: TUMS is the sponsor of the TUMS Fast Relief 500, the seventh race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, at Martinsville Speedway on October 30. Logano started from the pole in the Stater Brothers 300. He led 130 of the 152-lap event. Each time he made a green-flag stop, he quickly moved back to the front with ease. But with five laps remaining, Brendan Gaughan spun and brought out the final caution flag. That erased Logano’s healthy lead and placed the lead-lap cars in a pack for the restart. Logano made contact with second-place Brad Keselowski at the line, spun into the grass and ultimately finished fifth. “I really feel for Joey,” said Busch. “I’ve been there and I know how it feels. This is just a testament to this team and the never give up attitude that we have.” For Logano, that was a TUMS moment.
