Richard Childress Racing Celebrates 45 Years

Established in 1969, RCR will share memories and iconic moments across their social media channels throughout August and September with #RCR45

WELCOME, N.C. (August 15, 2014) Marking the organization’s 45th Anniversary in NASCAR, Richard Childress Racing will celebrate the milestone throughout August and September with creative content and stories from the past 45 years. Fans will be able to follow the discussion and share their favorite RCR memories via social networks using hashtag #RCR45.

It was on September 14, 1969 when Richard Childress entered the 44th race of the season at Talladega Superspeedway in the Talladega 500 making his first career Sprint Cup Series start. A race on NASCAR’s center stage gave the 23-year-old driver the funding to establish RCR and racing as a full-time career. Childress made 285 starts behind the wheel before stepping aside from the driver’s seat and assuming primary ownership role in RCR in 1981.

Over the next 45 days, RCR will showcase photographs, personal stories and interviews from those who have been with the organization throughout the years. Starting Sunday August 17, @RCRracing and www.rcrracing.com will feature daily throwbacks showcasing moments that shaped the motorsports organization. The content will also highlight the evolution of the team and technology to today’s drivers and those who call the shots each weekend at the track 45 years later. Fans will also be able to read stories from those who have been with the company from its inception, reliving multiple championships, wins and iconic races over the past 45 years.
