NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race 4 of 25 – Martinsville (Va.) Speedway

GOING FOR THREE: The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series revs back to action at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway this weekend, and fans will see Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) co-owner Kevin Harvick climb into the driver’s seat of the No. 2 KHI Chevrolet Silverado for the first time this season. Harvick has 11 Truck Series starts and has recorded two wins, one pole, five top-five and six top-10 finishes at Martinsville. The driver has led a total of 233 laps around the 0.526-mile paperclip-shaped Virginia track, which has been on the Truck Series schedule since the inaugural 1995 season. Should the driver win this Saturday’s 250-lap contest, it would be his third consecutive spring victory at Martinsville.

TRUCK SERIES SUCCESS: The KHI duo of Harvick and four-time series champion Ron Hornaday has dominated the last two events at Martinsville Speedway. Behind the wheel of the No. 2 truck, Harvick won the spring race last season, leading 187 of 250 laps en route to the victory. After being runner up in the spring event, Hornaday took the No. 33 Chevrolet Silverado to victory lane in the fall race, collecting his first win in his 17th career attempt at the track.

Harvick’s Martinsville win was the fourth consecutive win for the driver in the Truck Series. Harvick, who has nine career wins across 14 seasons in Truck Series competition, won the last two events of the 2009 season at Phoenix International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway. He then won in his first start of the 2010 season at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the week prior to taking the checkered flag at the 0.526-mile oval.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 KHI team will utilize chassis No. 057 this weekend at Martinsville Speedway. This is a brand new chassis built for competition this season.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: After starting in the eighth position, Elliott Sadler piloted the No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado to a seventh-place finish in the Truck Series’ previous event at Darlington Raceway on March 12.

HARVICK’S THOUGHTS ON MARTINSVILLE:

What are your thoughts going into the truck race at Martinsville?

“I love racing at Martinsville. We’ve definitely had a lot of success there in the Truck Series. Between Ron Hornaday and myself, we swept both races last season. It’d be really cool to do that again this year. I’m looking forward to getting into the No. 2 truck this weekend and hopefully get to victory lane for a third win in a row there.”
