Korbin Forrester Ready to Tackle the High Banks of Talladega

MOORESVILLE, NC – October 16, 2014 – Korbin Forrester takes the wheel of SS Green Light Racing #07 Chevrolet as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series begins a streak of five straight races to end the 2014 season in the Fred’s 250 powered by Coca-Cola on Saturday afternoon at the Talladega Superspeedway.

The young Georgian has made 4 NCWTS starts for the SS Green Light team this season and was last behind the wheel of one of Bobby Dotter’s Silverado’s back in August in the Mudsummer Classic at Eldora where he earned a lead-lap finish.

Since then, Forrester has been busy working on his dirt late-model at his family’s race shop in preparation for this upcoming weekend where he will run both the NCWTS Fred’s 250 powered by Coca-Cola and the Southern All Stars race on the Talladega Short Track across the street from the Talladega Super Speedway. “Eldora was a good experience,” Forrester said. “It got me interested in getting my dirt late model ready again. It’s kept me pretty busy the last few weeks.”

Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery along with McNair, McLemore, Middlebrooks & Co., LLC will provide support for Forrester and the SS Green Light Racing team. “The guys from Tilted Kilt will be with us this weekend, they really like Talladega. Tilted Kilt has been with us for some ARCA races in the past, we are hoping to get some TV time for them in the truck this week. There is a Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery in Birmingham, not too far from the track.”

Forrester was very competitive in the ARCA race at Talladega last May coming from the back of the field on two occasions to finish 13th in the rain shortened event. “We ran ARCA last year with Cunningham and qualified 7th, but we got put in the back because we were too low in tech. We made it all the way back to 11th when my ignition box went out and I ended up loosing my drafting partner in a wreck. So we had to come from the back again and made it back to 13th when the rain came with about 25 laps to go. We had a good car but we just had so many issues all day. We would have made back up to where we qualified or maybe even top-five. I’m hoping that experience will payoff this weekend and help avoid the big one.”

“I’d like to get a top-ten Saturday in the truck, but the competition is so close especially on the speedways and everybody is so fast in the NCWTS, so we’re hoping to at least finish top-fifteen. I’m driving the same truck that Jimmy (Weller) finished 9th at Daytona in so hopefully everything will go our way and we’ll finish up front.”

The Fred’s 250 powered by Coca-Cola will prelude Sunday’s Geico 500 and is the 331st consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team, a streak that dates back to 2001.

Practice for the Fred’s 250 powered by Coca-Cola will be Friday, October 17th from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with qualifying at 4:45 p.m. The green flag will fly on Saturday, October 18th for the Fred’s 250 powered by Coca-Cola at 12:00 p.m. Central time. The race will be shown live on FOX Sports 1 and will also be broadcast via the Motor Racing Network and on SIRIUSXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
