(Mooresville, NC – January 14, 2015)  Canadian driver, Cole Powell has signed with Team BCR Racing and Development Team to drive the #88 Tricar Ford Fusion at Daytona International Speedway for the Lucas Oil 200.

Before making his Daytona debut in 2014, Powell was named the 2013 NASCAR Whelen Modified Rookie of the Year; the first Canadian to win this title. Powell made his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Daytona debut in 2014, where he ran in the top-10 during both practices, however was involved in a multi-car incident early in the race.

To finish off his 2014 season, Powell competed in various events in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Series with a second place finish at the Famous Bowman Grey Stadium. He also raced at Delaware Speedway in a Pro Late Model, collecting 1 win and three 2nd place finishes.

Cole Powell said, “I am really looking forward to 2015, and starting it off with Team BCR is very exciting. Their proven track record, equipment and crew members are very promising, and I feel that I have a great shot at winning this race.”

Team Manager and Crew Chief Howard Bixman has worked with Powell in the past outside of the ARCA Racing Series.

“I’m really excited to have Cole join our team and I look forward to working with him at Daytona,” says Bixman. “Our relationship goes back many years on the business and personal side of things, as well as between our families. Cole is a very talented driver and has proven his ability on and off the track. I’ve been following his career over the past few years and as he moves forward in his racing career, I know he’ll be a great fit at Team BCR.”

Cole Powell will make his first start with Team BCR in the Lucas Oil 200 at Daytona International Speedway on February 14, 2015. Additional marketing partners will be released at a later date.
