Song created for Catwalk for a Cause now available for download — Martin Truex Jr. Foundation

Original song created for Catwalk for a Cause now available for download with 100 percent of proceeds going to Martin Truex Jr. Foundation for pediatric cancer research

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 19, 2015) — After a highly-successful Catwalk for a Cause event that raised more than $250,000 for the Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte and pediatric cancer research, the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation (MTJF) continues its creative ways to raise funding for children stricken with cancer.

The MTJF has established a unique partnership with songwriters Edwin McCain and Maia Sharp, whose heartening song — Hold Out A Hand — were the lyrics to the moving video finale at last week’s (May 13) Catwalk for a Cause, which was attended by approximately 600 guests, including many NASCAR personalities.

Hold Out A Hand, created for Catwalk for a Cause and sung by McCain, is now available to download on iTunes and Google Play Store for 99 cents with 100 percent of the proceeds earmarked to MTJF for childhood cancer research.

To listen to the song and view the video finale — go to YouTube.com and input Hold Out A Hand, Martin Truex Jr. Foundation.

“Edwin McCain and Maia Sharp have provided us with a heartwarming song that depicts courage, inspiration and charity,” said Truex, driver of the No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. “It’s a song that carries a special purpose and meaning – we can all hold out a hand and make a difference. I want to personally thank Edwin and Maia for their support in our continuing efforts to fund childhood cancer research. Now we just need everyone to download the song.”

Catwalk for a Cause was conceived by Truex’s girlfriend. Sherry Pollex, who came up with the idea in 2009. The annual event is highlighted with children, currently in cancer treatment, walking the runway with NASCAR drivers and their wives/girlfriends.

“The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation has come a long way since 2009 and our mission is to have Catwalk for a Cause  grow bigger and better every year,” said Sandy Plemmons, executive director of the MTJF. “In 2009 we had 50 guests at our inaugural event compared to 600 this year. The phenomenal growth is a result of Martin’s and Sherry’s passion for childhood cancer research and also to all the folks, especially in the NASCAR community, who have passionately supported this program over the years.

“Our deepest gratitude goes out to each and every volunteer, Levine Children’s Hospital, the children and their families, the media along with all the contributors for making Catwalk for a Cause a successful annual event.”

Some of the NASCAR celebrities attending last week’s Catwalk for a Cause in downtown Mooresville, N.C. were: Dale Earnhardt Jr. and girlfriend Amy Reimann, Danica Patrick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Kasey Kahne, Ben Kennedy, Scott Zipadelli, Matt and Katie Kenseth, Kevin and DeLana Harvick, Ryan and Krissie Newman, Clint and Lorra Bowyer, Brad Keselowski, David Gilliland, Max Papis, Aric and Janice Almirola, Justin and Ashley Allgaier, Ray and Erin Evernham, Rodney Childers, Frank and Heidi Stoddard, Greg Biffle and Larry McReynolds with his family. The master of ceremonies was Fox Sports reporter Jamie Little.
