David Starr Loves Everything About Nashville

Nashville Superspeedway boasts one of the most unique trophies in the NASCAR Racing. Winners take home a Sam Bass hand painted Gibson guitar rather than the traditional trophy; it’s a Nashville tradition that has gone on for many years dating back to races at the old Nashville Fairgrounds. Being a big fan of Country music, SS Green Light Racing’s David Starr hopes to be the next driver to bring home the coveted guitar when the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series visits the concrete track on Friday night for the Lucas Deep Clean 200.

It’s been three weeks since Starr and the SS Green Light Racing team hit the track together, but both driver and team have kept busy over the break in the schedule. David participated in his first ever Sprint Cup race at Texas two weeks ago and the SS Green Light team won one of the largest Late Model races in recent history when Chris Eggleston took the checkers at the Pro All Star Series $75,000 to win “The Race” at North Wilkesboro. The exciting news has everyone in the SS Green Light shop eager to return to action in the NCWTS.

When Starr and the Zachry Toyota take the green flag it will mark the 250th consecutive start in the NCWTS for co-owner and General Manager Bobby Dotter with the SS Green Light team. The streak began back in 2001 at Daytona and will continue on the concrete mile and a third speedway on Friday night.

“It’s a great track, Nashville has to rank right up there with one of my favorite tracks on the Truck Series,” said an excited Starr. “Being from Texas and being a huge country music fan it’s always fun to go to the city of Nashville because of all the country stars that are there and come out to the track. The Nashville Superspeedway really lays out the red carpet for the drivers in the Truck Series.”

“Man, that concrete track is awesome, it’s fun to race at. The facility is first class, I love everything about racing at Nashville,” Starr continued. “It’s just a great, great, great speedway and the races are always good.

“We are ready to go back after it; both the SS Green Light Racing team and our Zachry Toyota Tundra. After so much bad luck the first four races we are really looking to get that monkey off our back and get our season turned around. Our Tundra’s have been fast and handled well, we’ve just had some bad luck and we are ready to finally get this season kicked off with some good luck, we are looking forward to Friday night.”

“Jason (Miller) and the guys in the shop are excited, I’m excited and hopefully we can be right there at the end contending for that guitar.”

Allegro Marinades will join ASI Limited as an associate sponsor on Starr’s Zachry Tundra at Nashville Superspeedway. “Allegro products are just delicious and they are manufactured right down the road in Paris, TN so it’s pretty cool to have them onboard for the Nashville race,” added David.

In ten career NCWTS starts at the Nashville Superspeedway, David has three top-fives and four top-tens highlighted by a second place run in 2004. His average start is 13.4 and average finish is 10.5, completing an impressive 99.7% of the laps.

The Lucas Deep Clean 200 is the 250th consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the 270th career start for Starr in the series.

There are 39 trucks on the preliminary entry list for the Lucas Deep Clean 200.

Practice for the NCWTS Lucas Deep Clean 200 will be Friday, April 22nd from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Qualifying will be at 4:10 p.m. and the Lucas Oil 200 will be shown live on SPEED TV at 7:00 p.m. All times Central. It will also be broadcast live via radio worldwide on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and on SIRIUS Satellite Radio NASCAR Channel 128-XM104.
