Gilliland Takes Florida Lottery to Daytona

Former Polesitter to Promote Games that Benefit Education

STATESVILLE, N.C. (July 2, 2015) – David Gilliland will give the Florida Lottery some high-speed attention this holiday weekend as it joins the accomplished superspeedway racer for one of the most high-profile races of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. The colors of the Florida Lottery will adorn Gilliland’s No. 38 Ford Fusion for Sunday’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The 38-year-old Gilliland is a two-time polesitter at Daytona, including at last year’s Coke Zero 400, and will look to put the Florida Lottery Ford in the lead for Sunday night’s 400-mile event once again.

The Florida Lottery has contributed more than $28 billion to the state’s public education in 27 years, offering seven terminal games and approximately 60 scratch-off games at more than 13,000 retailers statewide. The games have made more than 1,400 people millionaires with more than $46 billion in prize payouts since the first ticket was sold.

“It’s great having a Florida-based partner for the Daytona race, especially one that can appeal to so many fans,” Gilliland said. “The Florida Lottery does great things for education while giving people lots of chances to win cash prizes. We’ll do our best to get them plenty of attention by running up front.”

“Partnering with David Gilliland for the Coke Zero 400 is a win-win for the Florida Lottery,” said Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O’Connell. “We are thrilled to bring Lottery and race fans together to increase awareness of our mission of maximizing revenues for education in Florida. We are proud to partner with David and Front Row Motorsports and are hopeful for a successful weekend at Daytona International Speedway.”

Gilliland and his Front Row Motorsports teammates will make appearances at the Florida Lottery’s midway and infield displays at the track on Saturday and Sunday:
