Toyota NSCS Kentucky Post-Practice Notes & Quotes

MATT KENSETH, No. 20 Dollar General Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
What happened on the track when you spun?
“Going too fast for conditions. I didn’t hit water or anything. There was nothing wrong with the track or anything, I just spun out.”

How is the new rules package?
“I think the package is fine, it’s the same for everybody. I feel like all our cars seem to have pretty decent speed, we just haven’t been able to get our balance tied together as we wanted to so far.”

What are your expectations for the first few laps on Saturday?
“I really think it will be okay. The cars are definitely edgier than before, a little less forgiving. I think it’s going to be fine. Everyone is in the same boat, I think it’s fine.”

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 FedEx Office Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Do you feel you have a good handle on the new rules package?
“I think it’s a good package for myself, personally I tying I typically am better on packages like this where you use gas and brake a lot. It’s fun, it definitely puts the emphasis back on car handling, for sure. I think we’ll see how it all stacks up after 400 miles, but I’m pretty optimistic that we have something we can race with and hopefully something we can win with.”

What’s your outlook for Saturday’s race?

“It will be interesting. I think there will be haves and have nots, for sure. Teams that have it figured out, or at least a little bit more than everyone else, and you’re going to have guys that struggled. I think eventually all these teams figure it out in due time and then we’re all right back running the same speed again. I’d say overall you’re going to see as much, if not more passing in this race than you normally would.”
