It’s an age-old debate, hotly contested by analysts, participants, fans and detractors alike – are the men and women behind the wheels of NASCAR’s finely-tuned machines athletes or simply skilled at quickly navigating a left turn?

NASCAR announced several personnel moves within its Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) department, including the hiring of Tom Bryant, a 20-year U.S. Army veteran, to a new position of Director, Touring and Weekly Communications.

Every racer is optimistic going to the Daytona 500, but forgive Brian Vickers if he’s a little more reflective on this year’s season-opener than most of the drivers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. This year’s “Great American Race” means so much, in so many different ways, to the 30-year-old Vickers:

Swan Racing announced today that Speed Stick GEAR is sponsoring Cole Whitt and the No. 26 Toyota for NASCAR's Daytona 500. To kick off the relationship, Speed Stick ® will film a multi-part documentary series that will chronicle the rookie's preparation and in-car experience during this year's Great American Race – the Daytona 500, on February 23rd.

Well-known band P.O.D. (Payable on Death) will energize the crowd at Phoenix International Raceway with a live concert prior to The Profit on CNBC 500, Presented by Small Business Fueling America NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race on Sunday, March 2. The concert beings at 11:00 a.m. MST on the Budweiser ROLL-BAR main stage in the fan midway.

While most drivers aren’t exactly sure how NASCAR’s new qualifying format will play out at Martinsville Speedway, they are sure of one thing: it’s going to add excitement and interest for fans.

Billy Boat Motorsports (BBM) announced today a partnership with Keen Parts, through theirwww.corvetteparts.net brand, for the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) season-opener at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 22nd. Keen Parts will serve as an Associate Sponsor for the No. 84 Chevrolet Camaro as 21-year-old driver Chad Boat makes his NNS debut.

Sprint Unlimited Preview: Denny Hamlin will make his ninth-career Sprint Unlimited start on Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway in the #11 FedEx Express Toyota Camry.

THE ORIGINAL: Team Penske will debut the “new” retro white paint scheme on the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford during Saturday night’s non-points race and unofficial start to the 2014 NASCAR season. The “new” paint scheme commemorates the first Miller Lite can that began Miller’s lite beer segment in the early 1970s.

Ricky Benton Racing (RBR) Enterprises announced today the team is going back to its roots for the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season.
