Joey McColm announced via Race Time Radio earlier this month that Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) has formed some new partnerships with Parts Source, the Toronto Maple Leafs (TML) and Steven Mathews.

In preparation for the 98th running of the Indianapolis 500, Jacques Villeneuve took part in the Orientation Refresher Test. While Villeneuve is not a rookie, he was required to take the test due to this being his first IndyCar event since 1995.

After a two and a half hour rain delay, the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama would get underway and quickly, Ryan Hunter-Reay showed he was the driver to beat in the 100-minute time limited race. Hunter-Reay took the lead on lap 16 when pole sitter Will Power got off course in the wet conditions. Hunter-Reay then pitted a couple laps later, though would get the lead back at he end of the pit cycle before cruising to victory.

Will Power would pick up exactly where he left off as he would win the pole for hte Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama. Power would get around the 17-turn course in one minute and 8.3120 seconds to score his first pole of the season and third pole in five starts at Barber Motorsports Park.

Ray Courtemanche Jr. announced officially earlier this month that he will run the full NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in 2014. Courtemanche ran a limited schedule in 2011 and 2012, before tackling the whole schedule in 2013.

Ryan Hunter-Reay is continuing exactly where he left off. The defending Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama winner led the pair of practices on Friday with a time of one minute and 8.7836 seconds.

Andretti Autosport announced earlier this week that Frank Montagny will drive the No. 26 Honda-powered car for the inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis on May 10th.

Thirteen-year-old Allison Legacy Race Series driver Jake Ruggles is dedicating his race this weekend in Hickory, NC to the Autism Society of North Carolina. Jake, whose younger brother Ryan has Autism, is a long-time supporter of multiple Autism-awareness charities.

The United States Automobile Club (USAC) has been sanctioned races for nearly 60 years and only one driver in that span has reached the 1,000 National feature event start plateau. That was Dave Darland earlier this season.
