What a great night for our team at Sunset Speedway’s final race of the season, the Velocity 250. This was by far the biggest Velocity 250 yet, with 7 classes bringing in over 300 race cars and packed pits and grandstands. The weather was incredible with 70 degree temperatures for the 2 day event.
Tracy Hines has been close a couple of times this year to winning on the dirt with the Honda USAC National Midget Series. He has four more chances to take his Parker Machinery/Powered by Toyota Spike to Victory Lane, with three of those coming this weekend in the Gold Crown Midget Nationals.

Lawrenceburg Speedway, located in his home state of Indiana, is about a 75-mile drive for Tracy Hines. It is one of the shortest drives he has all season as he competes in the three USAC National series. He makes the trek to the southeast side of the Hoosier state this weekend for an Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car series event at the high-banked oval.
One of the goals Taylor Ferns and her team set before the season was to make their World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series debut. She patiently waited most of the season and was able to check that off her list last week at the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio. The 2011 USAC D1 Midget Series champion won’t have to wait very long to race with the series again, as she’ll compete with the “Greatest Show on Dirt” this week at Bloomington Speedway in Indiana.
It’s going to be an emotional night on Friday at Bloomington Speedway for the entire Kinser family, there is no doubt about it, as Steve Kinser makes his final start at his home track as a full-time member of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series. As he has for most of the last decade, Kraig Kinser will be there to compete against his dad, with numerous family members and countless friends and fans in attendance cheering them on.
Bobby Labonte Racing (BLR) announced today the team will cease operations at the end of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season. Since 2007, BLR and driver Earl Pearson, Jr. have enjoyed championship success together. They won back-to-back Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championships and some of dirt late model top events including the Indiana Icebreaker, Colossal 100 and the Dirt Track World Championship among others. The team was also the founder and house team of the Longhorn Chassis beginning in 2011.
Elite Motorsports enters this weekend’s NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway, the fourth of 20 events on the Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series schedule, on a high-note.
