CarParts.com Expands Partnership with Michael McDowell

CARDONE and Davico to Join the eCommerce Retailer to Support McDowell at Daytona and Martinsville

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (August 5, 2020) – With Michael McDowell and the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports team making a push for a playoff position, CarParts.com has extended their relationship with McDowell during his career-setting season. CarParts.com will now be the team’s primary partner at the Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, August 29, and again at the Martinsville (Va.) Speedway on Sunday, November 1. CARDONE will serve as a co-primary partner at Daytona, while Davico will come on board as the co-primary partner at Martinsville-both in partnership with CarParts.com. The races will be televised live on NBC.

CarParts.com joined Front Row Motorsports during the return to NASCAR Cup Series racing earlier this season and has been an integral part of McDowell’s career-best season. McDowell has seven Top-15 finishes and two Top-10 results to date. His best finish of the season was a seventh-place result at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway with CarParts.com as the primary partner. After New Hampshire, McDowell is now 20th in driver points and continues to race for a playoff spot.

PLANO, Texas (August 5, 2020) – It’s a busy weekend for Toyota Racing drivers with seven races on the docket, including a NASCAR Cup Series doubleheader in Michigan, the first NASCAR Xfinity Series road course race of the season in Wisconsin and two races for the ARCA Menards Series West in the Northwest.

NASCAR National Series – NCS| NXS| NGROTS

Back Home… Erik Jones heads into his home race this weekend. The Bryon, Michigan-native will get two chances at his first Michigan International Speedway (MIS) win. In six Cup Series starts at MIS, Jones has a best finish of third, which he scored in his rookie season in 2017.

Hamlin Finishes Top Two… Denny Hamlin drove to a runner-up finish on Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway to score his eighth top-two finish of the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) season. Hamlin – who has a series-leading five victories this year – owns two wins at Michigan in 2010 and 2011.

Heritage Trophy Back Up for Grabs… The Heritage Trophy, given to the winning manufacturer at races at MIS, is up for grabs this weekend. With this year’s Michigan events being conducted on the same weekend, a manufacturer will win the trophy if they sweep the two events. If two different manufacturers collect victories this weekend, the award will go to the manufacturer with the most points earned by top-10 finishers of both races.

Jones leads Xfinity Charge… Brandon Jones makes the return to Road America as the only current Toyota driver to have a NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) start at the 14-turn, 4.048-mile Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin-track. Jones has a top-10 finish there in 2018, while current NCS driver Christopher Bell scored Toyota’s first victory at Road America last season.

Herbst Ready for First National Road Course Start… While NXS rookie Riley Herbst may be making his first NASCAR national series start on a road course this weekend, he does have previous success at Road America. In 2017, Herbst drove from the ninth starting position to a runner-up finish in the ARCA Menards Series event.

Tundra Hot at Michigan… Toyota Tundra drivers have driven to NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series (NGROTS) victory lane five times in the last six events at Michigan International Speedway. Hattori Racing Enterprises (HRE) has scored the last two victories with series points leader Austin Hill driving to the win last season. Hill led the final 10 laps to score his first Michigan victory. Kyle Busch and former Toyota drivers Johnny Sauter and Brett Moffitt (two wins) account for the rest of Toyota’s recent success at Michigan.

Graduate Looking Strong… Stratford, Wisconsin-native Derek Kraus comes into Michigan on a string of strong runs. The 18-year-old Kraus, who missed his high school graduation to race at Kansas Speedway, has scored top-10 finishes in four of the last five events. With those strong runs, Kraus has moved back into a NGROTS Playoff spot.

NASCAR Regional Series – ARCA| ARCA West

Self Leads Halfway Through… Michael Self continues to lead the ARCA Menards Series point standings with 10 races in the books and 10 to go. Self opened the season with a win at Daytona International Speedway and has led the point standings ever since. Self scored the win at Michigan International Speedway last season with a last lap pass.

Love Dominate… The ARCA Menards Series West is back on track with two races this weekend after one month away. Jesse Love, a 15-year-old rookie, has been on an incredible run to start his first season in the series. With two wins and two second-place finishes, Love leads the 10-race series by 17 points going into Friday’s event at Evergreen Speedway.

First of Two Doubleheaders in Three Weeks on Deck at Michigan

· NASCAR heads north to Michigan International Speedway for a doubleheader this weekend, the second of the 2020 season. Both events will run 312 miles (156 laps) at the 2-mile track.
· The Cup Series is coming off Sunday’s race from New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the 20th points event of the season. After this weekend, four races remain in NASCAR’s regular season, with the playoffs set to begin at Darlington on Labor Day weekend.
· The starting lineup for Saturday’s race will be determined by a random draw within teams’ order in owners’ points. Newman will draw for a spot in the 13-24 group. Cars will line up Sunday based off an invert of the top-20 finishers from Saturday, with positions 21-40 lining up in their respective finishing positions from Saturday.
· Four weeks of NASCAR action were initially completed prior to the COVID-19 hiatus with races at Atlanta, Homestead, Texas, Bristol, Richmond, Talladega, Dover and Martinsville postponed before the schedule later picked back up in mid-May.

· Newman powered his way inside the top-10 early in last weekend’s race from New Hampshire, before going on to finish 21st in the Guaranteed Rate Ford.
· Buescher finished 25th in the Fastenal Ford.
· Coca-Cola, longtime partner of Ryan Newman, makes its 2020 debut on the No. 6 this weekend at MIS. Newman also ran the Coca-Cola colors a season ago in the first race at Michigan, finishing eighth after starting 18th.

Michigan International Speedway serves as ‘home’ for Jack Roush and Roush Fenway Racing, located just an hour from Roush Industries in Livonia, Michigan. MIS has naturally been one of the organization’s most successful tracks on the circuit, with the team earning a total of 23 wins across NASCAR’s three major touring series.

I Said Welcome to Detroit City

In 213 NCS starts at Michigan, Roush Fenway has recorded 13 wins, 56 top-fives and 102 top-10 finishes with 2,452 laps led. Former driver Greg Biffle earned the organization’s most recent victory in June 2013 after starting 19th and leading 48 laps. Biffle’s win was also the 1,000th NASCAR victory for Ford Performance.

Roush vs. Everybody Else

Roush Fenway’s 13 wins in the NCS at Michigan are the most of any track on the NCS schedule. Five different drivers have earned victories for Roush Fenway at the two-mile oval with former drivers Mark Martin and Biffle both taking the checkered flag on four separate occasions. Roush Fenway drivers Matt Kenseth (two), Carl Edwards (two) and Kurt Busch (one) have also gone to victory lane for the organization in Michigan.

Consistency in the Motor City

Michigan ranks first overall among all tracks that Roush Fenway has competed on in the NCS in top-five finishes, top-10 finishes and in average finish among tracks that they have run two or more races. Roush Fenway has recorded 56 top-fives, 102 top-10s and has an average finish of 14.3 at the two-mile oval.

Michael Annett
No. 1 Allstate Parts and Service Chevrolet
• Michael Annett enters this week’s race at Road America on a streak of six consecutive top-10 finishes in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition.
• Annett finished ninth in the first NXS road-course event of 2020 at Indianapolis on the Fourth of July.
• Road America’s 4.048-mile course was the site of the Iowa driver’s best road-course finish, a second in 2017.
• Annett will carry the same black and red colors of Allstate Parts and Service on his No. 1 Chevrolet this weekend as he did in 2017 when he finished in the runner-up position. He finished sixth at Homestead-Miami Speedway earlier this season with Allstate on board.

Daniel Hemric
No. 8 Poppy Bank Chevrolet
• Daniel Hemric will make his third NXS start at Road America on Saturday afternoon.
• In two previous starts at the 4.048-mile road course, Hemric has scored a best finish of third, coming in this event in 2018.
• Overall, in seven previous starts on road courses in the NXS, Hemric has earned three top fives, four top 10s and a best finish of second in the 2017 event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
• Through 11 NXS starts in 2020, Hemric has earned a best finish of second at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May.

Noah Gragson
No. 9 Bass Pro Shops / TrueTimber Chevrolet
• Noah Gragson started fifth and finished fourth in his lone NXS start at Road America in 2019.
• Overall on road courses in the NXS, Gragson has an average finish of 5.2, including four top fives and no finishes outside of the top 10.
• After 17 races in the 2020 season, Gragson leads the way for JRM with two wins, eight top fives, 11 top 10s and is currently third in the championship standings.
• Gragson is currently the series leader in stage wins, scoring a total of eight in the 2020 season.

Justin Allgaier
No. 7 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet
• Justin Allgaier is a previous winner at Road America, having won there in 2018 after leading 14 laps. It was the second of two road-course victories for the JRM driver that year.
• In eight NXS starts at the Wisconsin track, Allgaier has two top fives and five top 10s, including his victory.
• The racing veteran has 29 career NXS starts on road courses, with three wins, nine top fives and 20 top 10s.
• Through 17 races in 2020, the Illinois native has won seven stages and led 417 laps. He currently sits seventh in the NXS point standings.
• Allgaier finished seventh in the first NXS road course event of 2020 at Indianapolis earlier this season.

JRM Team Updates

• JRM at Road America: In 29 NXS starts in Elkhart Lake, JRM has scored one win, nine top fives and 16 top 10s. Justin Allgaier earned the organization’s lone victory at the 4.048-mile road course in 2018 after starting from the 11th position and leading 14 laps en route to the win.
• JRM on Road Courses: JRM has netted four wins, 29 top fives and 61 top 10s in 117 previous starts on road courses in the NXS. Ron Fellows and Regan Smith earned the organization’s first two road course victories at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal in 2008 and at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in 2015, while Justin Allgaier went to Victory Lane at Mid-Ohio and Road America in 2018.
• Fitting Tribute: Michael Annett’s No. 1 Allstate Parts and Service Chevrolet will carry a special decal this weekend at Road America in honor of Chief Master Sergeant Darin Mauzy, Wing Command Chief, 158 Fighter Wing of the Vermont Air National Guard. Mauzy, a good friend of car chief Jonathan Davis, is retiring this year after 25 years of service. The team will present Chief Mauzy with a flag flown at JRM and signed by all JRM drivers and employees for reaching the finish line of his career.
