MI FEST 2011 MUSIC FESTIVAL COMING SEPTEMBER 17 TO MIS

Michigan’s music, food and art to be celebrated at MI Fest, an innovative, outdoor music festival debuting September 17, 2011

Farmington Hills, Michigan (March 16, 2011) —TGIF Entertainment Group announces MI Fest (mi · fest mī – fest  noun : an outdoor music festival featuring the best of Michigan’s food, industry, art and music) to be held Saturday, September 17, 2011, on the lush grounds of Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan.

MI Fest promises to offer a multisensory experience encompassing supreme musical talent, Michigan’s most outstanding foods, an on-site farmer’s market and local artisans.

The Michigan-centric festival, nestled within the Irish Hills of southeastern Michigan, will host national touring acts, along with Michigan-based artists.  Music will cross all genres, from Indie Bands, College Radio to Classic Rock, with nothing off limits.

Camping options are a signature component of MI Fest for people looking for an extended experience. MIS is the largest registered campground in the State of Michigan and offers both rustic and electric sites with brand new amenities.

“Michigan has produced some of the best music in the world and we need to take great pride in leveraging that asset.  Aside from being the Motor City, the next thing everyone associates with Michigan is our great music from Motown to Madonna, Bob Seger to Kid Rock and Eminem,” said George Gikas, president of TGIF Entertainment Group, located in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and the catalyst behind MI Fest.  “We don’t have to look past our backyard to provide a great festival full of music and our vision is to provide that Michigan experience in a family friendly environment.”   MI Fest surpasses the traditional music fest with a strong focus on Michigan’s arts, harvest, industry, and locally produced foods and beverages, all of which will have a strong presence at the festival.

“MI Fest is intended to showcase Michigan, put people to work and drive tourism in the state,” Gikas said.

“Being the host venue for MI Fest puts Michigan International Speedway in a unique leadership role that allows us to thrive and grow as a business, while attracting tourism to our area outside of our NASCAR events,” said Roger Curtis, president of Michigan International Speedway. “In addition to hosting world-class racing, we are committed to hosting different and unique events so we can showcase the charm and spirit of Southeastern Michigan year-round, bringing new tourism opportunities to the area every chance we get.”

MI Fest tickets will go on sale and a full artist lineup will be announced in late Spring 2011.  For more information or for corporate partnership or vendor opportunities, visit MI-Fest.com.
