Michael Annett California News and Notes

The Headlines:

Oakley Teams with Michael Annett for California Race: Oakley joins Pilot Flying J as a primary sponsor of Rusty Wallace Racing’s No. 62 Nationwide Series effort in 2011. Rusty Wallace Racing is pleased to add Oakley to their sponsor lineup, and driver Michael Annett looks forward to continuing his relationship with the Oakley brand for this weekend’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Royal Purple 300 at Auto Club Speedway. Annett, a devout wearer of the Oakley brand, is outfitted by Oakley for all of his at-track gear including firesuits, gloves, footwear and sunglasses.

Relationship Continues with Rusty Wallace and Oakley: Based in Foothill Ranch, Calif., Oakley’s immaculate headquarters sits just miles from Auto Club Speedway, making the Royal Purple 300 an ideal venue for Oakley to be featured on the hood of driver Michael Annett’s Toyota Camry. Dating back to 1990, Oakley began their relationship with driver-turned-team owner Rusty Wallace during his days as a Sprint Cup Series driver. That 21-year relationship has now carried into Rusty Wallace Racing where Oakley serves as the team’s primary outfitter.

Michael Annett at Auto Club Speedway: Annett has four starts on Auto Club Speedway’s two-mile D-shaped oval. His career best finish of sixth at Auto Club Speedway earned him awards for Raybestos Rookie of the Race, Mobil 1 Command Performance Driver and Featherlite Most Improved Driver in the October 2009 Nationwide Series Copart 300.

Michael Annett on Oakley’s Partnership for the Auto Club Speedway Race:

“We’re very excited to add another high profile brand to our sponsor lineup. Oakley has always had a strong relationship with Rusty Wallace Racing and their partnership for the California race will be a great opportunity to allow that relationship to continue to grow. Both Oakley and Pilot Flying J have been behind me since my initial races at the NASCAR level, and I look forward to being able to give back to Oakley for all of their support with a strong finish at Auto Club Speedway. I can’t thank Todd Hayes at Oakley enough for all he and his team do for us.”

Rusty Wallace on Oakley Joining the No. 62 Team for California:

“It’s really hard to believe that 21 years have gone by since we first got together with the guys from Oakley. We’ve definitely had a lot of fun together and 21 years later, Oakley is still one of the coolest and most high-performance brands on the planet. From their glasses to their new firesuits and everything in between, they make some really incredible stuff. I’m very grateful to Todd Hayes and everyone at Oakley for their support over the years and excited to have them on our car in their home market race.”

Michael Annett’s Oakley Selection:

Annett’s top pick for Oakley shades is their signature BATWOLF in Black Ink/Black Iridium. He also sports an Oakley firesuit, base layers, gloves and race boots.
