Roush Fenway Looks to Kiss the Bricks at Indy

After an off weekend for the Sprint Cup Series and a victory in the Nationwide Series at Nashville, Roush Fenway sets its sights on Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the famed Brickyard 400, where the team will look to add to its impressive list of high-profile trophies.

Roush Fenway has made a total of 72 starts at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, dating back to the inaugural event at the Brickyard in 1994. During that span the organization has posted 14 top-five and 27 top-10 finishes at IMS, while averaging a 17.2 finish and leading 156 laps.  

Elusive Feat Despite being close, Indianapolis is one of only two active tracks in the Sprint Cup circuit where Roush Fenway has yet to post a victory, the other being Chicagoland.  

Almost… Roush Fenway does have four runner-up finishes at IMS. Roush Fenway scored 11 runner-up finishes at Pocono, before finally taking the checkered flag there in 2005.

Roush Fenway at LOR Roush Fenway has started 22 races in the Nationwide Series at ORP, collecting two wins, 10 top fives (almost 50 percent), 15 top 10s and two poles, while leading 352 laps in NNS action. In addition, Roush boasts two wins and three poles in the Truck Series at ORP.

Looking for More… Carl Edwards will look to repeat his 2009 performance at ORP, when he led 72 laps in route to Roush Fenway’s second NNS victory at the track. Edwards also boasts one of Roush Fenway’s two Truck Series wins at ORP. Greg Biffle won Roush Fenway’s first NNS race at LOR in 2002. Biffle also collected Roush Fenway’s first win at LOR via the Truck Series in 1999.  

On a Winning Note… Roush Fenway has now won 11 times during the 2011 NASCAR season; four times in the Sprint Cup Series and seven times in the Nationwide Series. In addition, Roush Fenway has wins in the Sprint All-Star Showdown and Challenge. To date, five of Roush Fenway’s six drivers have visited victory lane in 2011, with three having made multiple trips to winner’s circle.  

Roush Fenway In the Lead Carl Edwards leads the Sprint Cup point standings heading into Indy. Edwards has led the points 13 of 19 weeks in 2011 and most recently reclaimed the lead after New Hampshire. Ricky Stenhouse is currently second in the NNS standings; just five points out of first.
