No. 30 Great Clips Chevrolet News and Notes
Double Trouble… Great Clips will have two chances to make it to victory lane at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS) with the No. 30 and No. 38 Great Clips Impalas. Jason Leffler will join his Turner Motorsports teammate Kasey Kahne in sporting the hair care brand’s colors in honor of this weekend’s Great Clips 300. Leffler will run the No. 30 traditional black and red paint scheme he has famously piloted over the last six years, while Kahne will run the No. 38 new ‘Online Check-In’ scheme.
The Great Clips 300… Longtime Turner Motorsports partner Great Clips, Inc., will serve as primary sponsor of this weekend’s race at AMS. This is the second consecutive running of the Great Clips 300 at AMS with Jamie McMurray taking home the trophy in 2010.
Number Swap… As in 2010, Leffler is sharing seat time in the No. 38 with Kahne, jumping behind the wheel of the No. 30 machine for eight events throughout the season. The number swap proved lucky for Leffler and his team in 2010, bringing home seven top-10 and three top-five finishes in eight starts in the No. 10. The streak seems to be continuing in 2011, with the team capturing four top-10s in five starts in the No. 30, including a seventh-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway last weekend.
Scan It… If you are trying to hear Leffler’s team communication this weekend, remember to tune your scanner to the No. 38 primary frequency (466.9250). When you want to hear Kahne’s communications with the No. 38 Great Clips team tune your scanner to the No. 30 primary frequency (460.8875).
This week’s Impala… The No. 30 Great Clips team will hit the track with Leffler’s favorite chassis this weekend, TMS-127. The team has raced TMS-127 at several tracks this season, including Iowa Speedway, Kentucky Speedway, Michigan International Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Darlington Raceway.
Turner Motorsports: In the Hunt… In 25 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 19 top-five and 48 top-10 finishes. All three of Turner Motorsports’ championship-contending drivers are inside the top-six in the driver point standings with Reed Sorenson in third, Justin Allgaier in fifth and Leffler in sixth.
Happy 10-Year Anniversary, Great Clips… This season marks Great Clips’ 10-year anniversary as a primary sponsor in the NNS. The Minneapolis-based Great Clips, Inc., which is currently the longest-running primary sponsor in the series, came onto the scene in 2001 as a primary sponsor of Akins Motorsports No. 38 entry, then driven by Christian Elder.

“I love racing at Atlanta. It is one of the fastest tracks we go to and doesn’t have a ton of grip. There are several different grooves you can run, which makes it a lot of fun as a driver. I also feel like the Labor Day weekend race marks the last quarter of the season, so if you have the momentum of a good finish it can go a long way for the rest of the year.”
