Unfortunately for Jason and his team, another potential top-10 finish was derailed by mistakes on pit road which relegated the No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford to a disappointing 24th place finish in the running of the Good Sam Roadside Assistance 200.
White started the 200-lap scheduled event from the 28th position and patiently worked his way up through the field. Unfortunately the pit crew failed to completely fill the fuel tank on the No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford during the first pit stop. Subsequently while knocking on the door of the top-10, White was forced to pit under green for fuel. The team hoped for green flag racing to continue for a full cycle of stops, but disaster struck with a caution soon thereafter, putting Jason down a few laps to the leaders – something he could not recover from.
“This finish is a big disappointment for the GunBroker.com team and me,” stated Jason White. “We battled the handling of our GunBroker.com Ford since we unloaded on Friday and that was reflected in our qualifying effort. But once the green flag flew, the truck seemed to come to me the longer we ran. I think we were in for another solid top-10 finish until our pit failures cost us. We are still in the process of building this team but we cannot have errors like we did today. The team will recover from this and improve as we set our sights on Kansas.”
Jason sits in the seventh spot in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers’ standings – seven points out of the top-five and 27 points out of first place.
“It was something special to be able to race at Rockingham,” added Jason. “I remember coming down here from Virginia when I was in high school and sitting in the stands one Monday after the Cup race was rained out on Sunday. NASCAR and Andy Hillenburg did a fantastic job and I look forward to going back and running again with much better results.”
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be in action this weekend at Kansas Speedway with the running of the SFP 250 on Saturday April 21st at 2:00 p.m. ET.
