TRAVIS PASTRANA
No. 99 Toyota Camry
Iowa Speedway
CORNELIUS, N.C. — No. 99 RAB Racing Toyota driver Travis Pastrana isn’t the only action sports star spending a lot of time at NASCAR races these days.
His wife Lyn-z Adams Hawkins Pastrana often accompanies her husband to the track signing autographs for fans who recognize her as one of the top female skateboarders in the world.
With eight X Games medals (one bronze, four silver, three gold) the San Diego native has been the face of women’s skating for years enjoying success in many disciplines including vert, bowl, street and mega ramp.
Hawkins-Pastrana was the first woman to skate the mega ramp at age of 15. In 2009, she was the first female to land a McTwist 540 (Video: click here) in vert competition at the Tony Hawk Show in Paris.
Hawkins-Pastrana has attended nearly all of her husband’s races in 2012, but she won’t be at Iowa Speedway this weekend to watch her husband compete in the Nationwide and East races. She will be in Australia performing in the action sports show “Nitro Circus Live.” To preview the “Nitro Circus Live” show: click here
QUOTES
Pastrana on his wife Lyn-z: “I have a great wife. She is a beautiful woman but also a great athlete. She knows exactly what it’s like to be someone so focused on something. She is probably one of the most competitive individuals I know and I love that. When she doesn’t win she gets really pissed off. We make a really good team because we knew what the other person was thinking even from the first time we met, that’s kind of cool. She also knows what it takes to be at the top. So she doesn’t get frustrated or upset when I am a different person on race day. I am grateful I found my soul mate.”
On Iowa: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to run both races this weekend at Iowa. I have been pretty satisfied with the start to the season. We need to get better at qualifying. This week Nationwide and K&N practice are on the same day so I am really going to have to focus. It could be very easy to get confused on which car has which feel. However, our goal this year has not changed. I need to go out there and finish every lap so I can get the most experience possible.”
