(MOORESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA) July 3, 2012 – Jason Bowles and his American Majority/PledgeToVote.com No. 81 Toyota team return to Daytona this weekend, looking to avenge their tough weekend there in February. Now with momentum on their side, the MacDonald Motorsports team is excited for their second chance at the famed 2.5 mile tri-oval.
Jason on Daytona…..“We’ve had a fast car at both restrictor plate races this season,” explained Bowles. “It was great to get up there in the lead pack and mix it up with some of the big names in the series at Daytona earlier this year. I really think we are going to be even stronger this time out. We ran up front at Talladega this year as well and the cars just keep getting faster and faster. You can really feel the confidence in the shop this week among the crew. I think everyone has been waiting to get back to Daytona for the past few months.”
Tough luck on Super Speedways this season…..After two restrictor plate races this season, The American Majority No. 81 team hasn’t had luck on their side, recording two DNF’s. On a positive note, the MacDonald Motorsports No. 81 was very quick both times out. Jason drove to the front at Daytona before losing his engine to overheating issues. At Talladega, Bowles ran as high as 4th before getting caught up in another cars problem, ending his race. Given the unpredictability of the Super Speedway races, the odds are in Jason’s favor this weekend for a strong run at Daytona.
Jason’s thoughts on Kentucky…..“We had a pit road speeding penalty just before halfway that really hurt us. The American Majority Toyota was really fast but we just could never get back to the top-20 after that. I really have to thank my crew for everything they did today. It was one of the hottest days of the summer so far and they worked right through the heat. Everyone really did an excellent job.”
Meet Jason at the track…..Jason will be taking part in the NASCAR Nationwide Series autograph session this Friday afternoon at Daytona. The session will take place from 4:30-5:30pm from the Sprint Fan Zone. Come on by and meet Jason and the rest of the stars of the series.
Watch the race…..Fans can watch Jason and his American Majority team race in the Subway Jalapeno 250 this Friday night. The race will air live from Daytona International Speedway at 7:00pm EST on ESPN.
