This Week’s Barberitos Toyota … John Wes Townley will pilot RAB Racing with Brack Maggard Chassis No. 38 in Friday’s Subway Jalapeño 250 at Daytona International Speedway. This chassis last saw action at Talladega Superspeedway, when Kenny Wallace piloted this Toyota Camry to a ninth-place finish.
Townley at Daytona… In three NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at Daytona International Speedway, Townley has a 21st-place finish, which came in his first start in 2009, to call his best. Additionally, the 22-year-old driver has posted two top-five finishes in three ARCA Series races at the 2.5-mile track, including a career-best finish of third in February, 2010.
RAB Racing at Daytona … In seven NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at Daytona International Speedway, RAB Racing entries have earned one top-10 finish and have completed 742 of the 784 (94.6 percent) laps contested in those events. Additionally, in four ARCA RE/MAX Series starts at Daytona, RAB Racing has earned one top-five finish.
Zipadelli at Daytona … Scott Zipadelli, crew chief of the No. 99 Toyota Camry, has sat atop the pit box at Daytona International Speedway eight times in his Nationwide Series career, garnering one top-ten and five top-20 finishes, with drivers Jason Leffler, Kelly Bires, and Wallace.
Get to the Points … With Wallace’s 11th-place finish at Kentucky Speedway last Friday night, RAB Racing advanced one position, to 20th, in the NASCAR Nationwide Series owner point standings. In 16 races this season, RAB-prepared Nationwide Series entries have notched two top-10 and four top-15 finishes.
RAB-prepared Toyotas have completed 2,360 laps with drivers Victor Gonzalez, Jr., Travis Pastrana, Townley, Ryan Truex and Wallace.
Daytona Flashback … Last time RAB Racing competed at the “World Center of Racing,” in the 2012 Nationwide Series season opener, driver Kenny Wallace was able to power the No. 09 Family Farmers Toyota Camry to the front of the field at lap 99. Though a late-race incident relegated the team to a 30th-place finish, Wallace spent much of the day running inside the top-ten.
